Hats off to the players and staff. That was about as good as you could look in a loss. Man we are competitive with Carolina. After two games, my only real concern is runner Nate 25 times a game.
Great objective post for those scoring at home.

If we get a couple of backs healthy I think you’ll see his carries will decrease. But he looks great and gets stronger as the game goes.
Anyone know if there’s any reason for Kanye not getting touches to give Nate a break? That big of drop off in production?
Because Kanye isn’t ready for that roll. There is more to playing the position than taking a handoff and go. He is still learning the position.
We understand not playing against UNC (kinda) as it’s a big game, P5, close game, TV, cameras, has to block etc…

But if you’re telling us he’s not ready to run the ball v an FCS GWEBB up 21 in the 4th quarter then that’s a problem. He got those carries and time last year in those types of game scenarios, what happened? Is he dinged up or recovering from injury? Just doesn’t make any sense.
Different OC. Different QB. Different roles for RBs.

In Barbay's offense, he had more designed runs than RPO/read option -- likely due to Brice not really being a run threat. But, in this situation, if the RB is not getting the ball, he knew pre snap and was and to choose his block read pre snap -- much easier to do.

Now, with Ponce, it's very few designed hand offs and majority are reads. At least from what we saw the first two weeks. But, in this situation, the RB has to make a split second read and decision AFTER the QB makes a read. It's much harder to do and takes a lot of practice.

One play that jumps in my head from last night was on a QB keeper. Obviously Kanye wasn't involved in the play, but JA had a read to run it outside. Milan either didn't notice his read or read something completely different so he ran outside as a pitch back while JA was expecting a block. If Milan makes the block JA gets at least 5 yards. I say this because Milan is a veteran and has played in this offense before -- and he still struggles to make the right reads. It takes time. Against GW, we already lost QB1 due to injury so it didn't make sense to get QB2 hurt too with a bad read by a young RB still learning...

That happened right in front of us. I noticed it too.

It sounds like an over simplification but so many close games are lost due to players not doing their assignments. Stay in your lanes and generally you at least have the chance of the tackle. Don't over pursue on defense. On offense remember your assignment.

Let’s get through September 4-1 and revisit this one. I had similar feelings last year after TAMU and then the season was like a whoopie cushion. I like what I’ve seen the past two games so far but am cautiously optimistic.
App fans really don't know how injuries impacted this team in 2022, do they?

Nope. Those are all just excuses. Or something.

Another great win. But in terms of going forward, can Nate carry the ball 300 times and gain 1,500 yards? Because that seems like the recipe. But so far that MAN has been an absolute STUD!

Leads FBS in rushing per game and 2nd in rushing yards. ND has played one more game than we have.

Yes, he has. As the season goes, I would like to see someone to step up for more carries. Hope it is Kanye. He looked good absent the fumble

Did you notice that Georgia Southern is number 10 in passing yards?

Georgia State and Troy are in that list too.
