Both great stadiums. ECU is bigger, and louder. App's is more scenic; one of the most picturesque in CFB; also KBS's proximity to downtown and to be able to walk King St and all around campus is something I love. Both stadiums fit each respective program very well. I tbh like them both.
our actual stadium sucks.
It does not suck but it is showing some age and effects of harder winters than most anyone else in the southeast. It would be interesting to compare some G5 stadiums farther north for winter's wear and tear.

The mountains are both a blessing in the views we have but also a curse in what we can do compared to a flat piece of ground. I do wish we had a complete circle to walk around but I like the asymmetrical look as that is part of our history of growth.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

FWIW, Cincy won it last year. Now that's a stadium. But they are P5 now and weren't in the running this year.

I like it. One thing I really like about college stadiums is how they get built piece by piece as the program grows, as opposed to what I find to be generic and no personality NFL stadiums. And as a Boone native I like seeing how far KBS and the entire football program and gameday/tailgating scene and experience has come since I moved there in 1986.

Good points brought up about ECU selling out and being loud when better opponents come through; but I mean yeh that's the case for most programs; we've been really good for a long time, so we don't really have a sample of what KBS would be like with an extended period of having an average or below average team. Other independent variables affecting KBS...1. the weather; we get 1 monsoon rain game and some really cold games which affects attendance 2. weekday games; with so much of our fanbase living in the Triad/Triangle/Charlotte area, that affects things.

Totally agree on our students; they're there early, pack the section, are super loud....and having them from endzone to endzone as opposed to the corner sections like in other stadiums makes for a really unique and special student section experience.

P5 is dead, it’s a P2 now.

P5 has always been dead outside of TV deals. It's more like "8 semi-pro teams and then the rest of college football" and the "8" number may be generous.

I made a bold statement yesterday on our show, that 90% of p5 schools would struggle to win 6 games if they were plopped into a g5 conference. Take 90% of their budgets away, players transfer out, can’t buy the best talent, can’t afford lavish facilities and all the accoutrements $30-50m in TV money buys. They’d implode.

Honestly, that isn’ a too far from accurate statement. How many P5 schools are just along for the ride and are OK suckling the teat of the true big boys? 90% seems high as resources and accoutrements may change, but it doesn’t actually dilute the talent level which still has to go somewhere?

All of the schools in the P2 have alumni that support them at a level above the “g5”.

I'm not arguing that they wouldn't still have more money coming in from donors...what I'm saying is that taking a 98% haircut on your TV revenue would sting...a lot...and that they'd struggle mightily if they could no longer suckle at a golden teat.

Having been to big time games at both, I can say with a measure of certainty that App's stadium and game day experience is much better than ECU's wine and cheese type environment. ECU may paint themselves as the antithesis to UNC and maybe they are to a certain degree, but I've seen just as many khaki, polo, and visor capped people there as I have in Chapel Hill.

The issue may have been that the stakes of their games were very, very low as well. I still believe the loudest I'd ever heard an App game, pre-Miami when Marcus broke off that 70 yard touchdown that was called back, was against Richmond with only 24,000 people there. Those two situations were louder than I'd ever heard ECU's stadium.

I was also in Charlotte when the Panthers beat the Saints in the de facto NFC South Championship Game. The stadium literally rocked when Hixon caught the game winning touchdown. I'd say that the crowd noise when Marcus broke that run to the outside and then broke a tackle was, on a smaller scale, similar to the noise that day in Charlotte.

Perhaps ECU's stadium can't trap sound like Kidd-Brewer? I also wasn't in Greenville when Magazo (forgot his name) intercepted Russell Wilson in OT to seal that game in 2010 but I'd imagine it was fairly loud in that moment. So, could be I just never witnessed the extent to which it can be noisy there.
