Re: Guest picker
Since Gameday flies guest pickers in via Wheels Up, could a plane that size land at Boone Airport (landing strip)?..if said picker doesn’t already live in town, that is.

Re: Guest picker
I dont think a jet could land there-runway too short, maybe even too narrow. I have looked at prop planes into Boone but haven't had the need yet. Avoiding I-26 and 5 hours from Charleston would be lovely.AppChiro2015 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 1:14 pmSince Gameday flies guest pickers in via Wheels Up, could a plane that size land at Boone Airport (landing strip)?..if said picker doesn’t already live in town, that is.

Re: Guest picker
I believe small passenger jets can land in North Wilksboro or the Ashe county airport in West Jefferson311neers wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 1:17 pmI dont think a jet could land there-runway too short, maybe even too narrow. Re: Guest picker
Elk river has to be the best option for a small jet

Re: Guest picker
Not as convenient as a jet strip, but likely route would be jet to Hickory and helicopter to Boone. Elk River has a private strip, but that would be a wild ride in and out of that one! The drive to Elk River would be almost as long as to Hickory anyway. Wilkesboro has jet strip for Window World jet also. As we all know weather on the mountain changes fast so that may be a big hindrance311neers wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 1:14 pmWould be nice if we could actually fly people in for games directly into NC14. Anyone know of any plans to expand that as our brand continues to grow? This sounds like a perfect reason to pour money into that airstrip.

I’m on Johns Island as well, and gave up my tickets this year because I just can’t handle 26 anymore.311neers wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 1:17 pmI dont think a jet could land there-runway too short, maybe even too narrow. Re: Guest picker
Smaller 6-8 passenger jets (citations, that sort of thing) can land at Boone with relative ease. They generally would only want to do daytime takeoffs/landings, with good weather, and sometimes the lack of services means they'd prefer to just fly into HKY or North Wilkesboro (fuel hours, rental car access, etc.) but a small Wheels Up jet wouldn't have any problem dropping into Boone for a couple of hours on a good weather Saturday morning.AppChiro2015 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 1:14 pmSince Gameday flies guest pickers in via Wheels Up, could a plane that size land at Boone Airport (landing strip)?..if said picker doesn’t already live in town, that is.
