UVA is available as of this evening when VMI
Backed out. News out of Samford is looking like they also may back out of their game with
Florida State. Both of those games were slated for Sept 19th.
There has been no news from our AD that we will be backing out of the game with F$U.
The Southern Conference Council of Presidents announced Thursday that the league will not have fall conference competition due to health and safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing for nonconference contests if desired. It is the intention to move the fall sports’ regular-season competition and championships to the spring.

Yeah, I’m with you... If the FSU game doesn’t happen for you guys, I don’t think anything will... the Bowden connection there is too strong. Although, if it doesn’t, let’s go to Tallahassee! I wish the SOCON nothing but the best (minus Furman)!

So the man who set up Miami coming to Boone, Wake coming to Boone, UNC and South Carolina eventually coming to Boone, Marshall coming to Boone ( Something many fans wanted), a series with ECU that will allow App State to play prime time on a Thursday night in Charlotte next season....a man who has done so much for the university in just 5 years...people are legit going to start bashing him all because we scheduled Campbell in the middle of a pandemic? Pathetic

Let's see if Adam Sandler was a prophet in the Longest Yard, when his character said Florida State used Appalachian State as a tune up game. May have to rewrite that segment of the movie if this game were to happen.

At this point I’m not counting on a P5 game.

I certainly understand a decision hasn’t officially been made. However, your AD was non committal about the game by saying “We’ve got some decisions to be made there (FSU game), but no decision has been made today. I promise you this will be a late night and an early morning again trying to figure that out.”
Hence, my statement “Samford MAY back out...”

That is hard to believe. As long as we don't play a D2 game, because it would not count towards a bowl, I don't think we can complain. I normally would not want Campbell because they don't help our SOS but this year if you get D1 games I think you have to take it. People have to remember that these P5 games were all scheduled before we became a G5 power and right now with people just wanting wins because they fear a shortened season that we will be the last team anyone outside of a top 10 ranked P5 team would want to play.

Campbell - I'd put approximately at the same level as Morgan State, maybe a little less.
UNCC - I'd put approximately at the same level as UMASS, maybe a little greater.
Considering these two, I'd say we came out fairly even.
If a game can be mustered up against one P5, I'd say the schedule would be more than acceptable. Just my opinion.

We should rightfully be proud of where we are (our AD included), and of the direction we’re headed!.... But we should NEVER forget where we came from! I hope the day never comes that we’re viewed as thinking we’re above playing ANY program. That’s not to say we shouldn’t constantly strive for strong competition, but DG has and is taking care of that!

You guys who are still complaining, fretting, debating or otherwise bitching about the football schedule do realize that the decision was made to not have any championship games this fall season?? Doesn’t it stand to reason that there will be no bowl games either? That being said what is the big hairy deal who we play? It will still be a miracle to have football at all this fall. Unbelievably some are actually worried about our SOS! What difference does that make this year?

Bowl games and the college football playoff committee don’t have anything to do with the NCAA so there’s a chance those are all still on the table. CFP has said they are planning for the 2020 championship already.

The NCAA canceled all fall sports championships because there are less than 50% of the teams still competing and the by laws require at least 50% participation. The NCAA has NO control over FBS bowls or the playoffs. So no, I do not think it stands to reason that there will not be bowls including New Year Six Bowls. Now, if this thing keeps getting bigger and States shutter up again and don't allow fans to attend, that would change my mind on it. But that will be based on the Governors of the states that host bowl games, not the NCAA.

Think of it this way....this is pretty close to a guaranteed opportunity for us to see our depth (including QB) on the field. That's not a bad thing given the number of seniors on this roster.

The Big South is pushing football to the spring for what will probably be an abbreviated season (conference games) but they are allowing teams to play up to 4 games (non-conference) this fall. It's an odd model, but has some merit for their situation.

Big South Model...Feel free to go make any money you can this Fall and we’ll play for a conference champion in the Spring.
