Those bonuses are super low. If he were to win a NY6 or get to the CFP he should get about 300K per win. Those games would bring in so much money that I think he needs an agent big time. Clark should be getting about 700k bonus with incentives that would put him over 1.2M total and I don't think he can reach 800k with this can he? I love that his family is allowed to travel to all away games at no cost but I rather have the cold hard cash and heavy incentives. Just feels like we lowballed a man that I thought we would pay about what Drink got.
He seemed pretty cheerful at the press conference. You people can’t be pleased.
I just thought bonuses would be much higher because of the amount of added revenue the school would make and it would be uncharted territory for that stuff. I mean if he accomplished that stuff he would be in high enough demand by P5 schools to ask for 3M a year at App. Those bonuses don't even come close to that.
With that said, he is of course happy because he loves App and this is a dream job for him.
I'm happy for him. The only reason I pointed this out is because he said he does not have an agent and I don't think a good agent would have let the bonuses be that low. I hope he goes 14-0 next year and is able to double his salary. Shawn Clark the person deserves for that to happen. I love the guy and I'm glad to have him.

$900K to maintain what we have established as SOP is pretty damn good in Boone NC. He’ll break $1M if he has a special season.
I hope he has a very long successful career.

His bonuses are essentially the same that were in Drink's contract, to the best of my recollection, and we all know he had an agent that knows how to get every last dime for his client so I don't think it is that at all. The fact that the highest bonus is for winning the Sun Belt title game leads me to believe that is because it is the goal that we have complete control over and therefore the highest to reward. I think the cfp bonuses are just there and nobody has any realistic view that we would ever get into the cfp so it is essentially irrelevant.

I really expected his salary to match Drink as a reward for being loyal and the fact that he has been here a while and had more to do with the current roster than Drink had in terms of personnel since he has been here a while. I thought he would get a matching base salary and the bonuses would go up. I understand the thought process on CFP but why not give legit numbers that should match just in case. If hell breaks loose and you go 13-0 and sneak in then those numbers in writing would have to be changed. Why not just put in big time bonuses to show what getting there would be worth.

Again, if Coach Clark signed his contract then he must be satisfied with the terms of the contract.
If a poster doesn’t agree with Coach signing the contract maybe become an agent? Just my 2 cents.

I'm with you HighPoint App. I believe some people just talk to "hear their head roar"!!! The man IS happy so why question his ability to negotiate a fair contract!

Once anyone reaches the point of not worrying about bills, getting a cheaper meal at a restaurant, using coupons, etc. they are at a comfortable place in life. Once you are up in that over $500k per year status you are in big company CEO type money. Double that, living in Boone you should really feel good. At some point with these guys, and high paid pro athletes it just becomes Monopoly money.

I think he would have done it for less. He just wants to be here.
Then why didn't he do it for less?

I think that App being the top program in the Belt should offer the highest salary as well but that probably won’t happen. Do other Belt schools have more money than we do in their budgets or in their alumni groups or do they simply fork out stupid money?

Are people not accounting for the extra 200k that Coach Clark secured for his staff?

Thanks and interesting read but according to the list salaries are paid by the university- does that include alumni money? Notre Dame is pretty low- or maybe more realistic.

Need some help here, as I do not know this answer. I agree, I think the school pays the salary. I think our beloved Appalachian State University has to also pay for things that could be paid by Yosef “alumni” Money. So if we get more people to give Yosef Funds, that will free our school to pay for only the things they must pay and would be able to increase things like salaries.
