GS did cost us the Cotton Bowl.

We never had a shot at any outside bowl with the loss to Georgia Southern. We all saw where we stand in the committees perception by being behind Memphis, Cincy, and Boise St. With no loss, still not sure they put us ahead of Tiger High or Cincy either. The AAC has done a grand job of public relations. I'd say any Belk talk was just that, talk.
Yes, we did. Had Georgia made it into the playoff, App likely goes to the Belk Bowl. Georgia was trounced by LSU meaning App wasn't going to the Belk Bowl.

It's that simple.
It actually had little to do with Georgia not making it into the playoff as UGA was going to be in an NY6 bowl, win or lose. Bottom line is we needed 4 SEC teams in the NY6 and instead only 3 were selected (LSU/UGA/UF).

Pretty much what everyone said. No lies or tricks, just that the Belk bowl and ESPN were looking at potential options if the Belk couldn't get filled with it's contracted tie ins. But because teams were available from the contracted conferences, that's the end of that. They must take an SEC and ACC team in that case.

The SEC assigns bowls like this:

1. NY6 bowls - no set # of teams, depends on how they're ranked. This year they have 3.
2. Citrus bowl. The premier non-NY6 tie in for the SEC.
3. Pool of 6 bowls. Outback, Tax Slayer, music City, Belk, Texas, and Liberty. Within this group, there's no set order. It's the conference, schools, and bowls all working to figure out best fit. This year only 5 teams filled these spots and they chose to not attend the Liberty.
4. Birmingham bowl. There were no teams left for it this year.
5. Independence bowl. Also no teams left. Both the Birmingham and Independence have a high risk of not getting an SEC team because of how far down they are and the SEC generally doing well in sending teams to the NY6 bowls.

Yes , and that too. We had everything going our way until Halloween. Could have finished top 15 or so if we had gone undefeated .Our people worked the politics hard .We have developed such a national brand to the point even with the loss we were still in the conversation up until the end.
