I would like to see a more regional conference, the savings in travel alone in all sports would be better for the schools money wise, as well as better for the athletes. The savings would result in better programs over time for everyone and it would be easier for the average person to go to a game, if not every game. What would this conference look like? I would like to see Appalachian, East Carolina, Charlotte, Costal Carolina, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Marshall, and maybe Liberty, A&T, Central, and Old Dominion. The biggest problem in a conference like this, is what to call the conference.

As AppGrad78 , myself and others said several years ago, Ed Hardin is a solid sports reporter and has been for some time even though there were some on here who have attacked him. We must remember that not every writer will write "what we want to read" in 100% of articles.

I'll say this, he knows a bandwagon when he sees one and isn't above hopping on. Before you get offended in his honor let me say, I've enjoyed his articles. Yes, he is a very good sports writer but he also knows his audience, which around Greensboro is mostly ACC based. After we played Wake Forest, in my opinion outplayed them, he skewered our school, our fans and our students, focusing on some reported negatives rather than the full game day experience. To me he intentionally made it sound like we were uncultured, obnoxious upstarts, too big for our britches. It left a very bad taste in my mouth which I haven't been able to get rid of. I still read his columns and I appreciate this particular article along with the good exposure he's given us through the Greensboro New and Record, which, at times has failed to take minimal notice of anything we do. Nevertheless, I understand why some on this board don't care for him. Hat's off for this article...I hope there are more to come.

the AAC is a very, very strong basketball conference probably better than the PAC-12 - APP can't compete in the SB and it would be ugly against the AAC (most of them anyway) - I would love for us to play in their football set-up and I think we would be very competitive right away - I also agree that Boise St. is the best known brand in G-5 and other than the obvious Navy, Army, AF and BYU I would say that APP State is pushing to be very near the top in name recognition.

Very good article. I look back at what the haters were saying last year about how we'd drop like a rock (no pun intended) after Satt left, and I just laugh. The AAC may make a move in 2 years, and we are already in the conversation. Hopefully the author is right and the fun is just beginning.
For now, I know, I know... Beat USA and go 1-0.

It is funny. Many thought I was nuts for saying the pressure is on and Drink must win a certain number of games. 8-9 wins were not acceptable. We need to focus on one game at a time and I hope our players our. We could lose any week but we could also win every week.

In two weeks the real poll comes out and we find out what they think of us but we have to win the next two or else the dream dies for sure.
