So Eric flys in after watching his tarholes play Pitt, and Luke comes in after watching his Bulldogs play Auburn?

Re: Eric Church
His song "Hometown" is also nothing like what I saw growing up in and around Granite Falls. His type of country isn't for me, but that song irritates me to no end because it's almost certainly a co-write as the lyrics don't line up with Granite Falls, Hudson, Lenoir, or Hickory. Went to the same high school, though he graduated a year or two before I was a freshman (I think). Things didn't change that much between that time either.DaphneUrquhart wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2019 12:25 pmFor what it's worth, Eric Church does support App.
His song "Carolina" definitely speaks of mountain life. If Chapel Hill wants to blast out a song about our neck of the woods, blast on.
Like it or not, it's not Boone that folks think of when they hear the word "Carolina". Our own band uses "Nothing Could be Finer [than to be in Carolina]" in its opening show. There are current App videos with "Carolina in My Mind" (James Taylor's song written when he was homesick for the Chapel Hill - Carrboro area in which he had grown up). "Carolina in My Mind" has been the unofficial theme song of UNC-CH for decades. I don't hear folks complaining that we're using some of the sames songs they use in Chapel Hill.
Y'all do and say what you want. I'm still going to sing along with Eric Church songs and spend my hard earned dollars on his music and appreciate the support he does give to App.
See you at The Rock!

Re: Eric Church
Unfortunately, that’s what you get with Ticketmaster these days. It’s ridiculous & out of control. My family was planning to go see Jimmy Buffett in Va Beach last month (since he evidently doesn’t come to Raleigh anymore) and tickets for the lawn, yes THE LAWN, were $200 EACH. Similar thing happened when Hootie & Barenaked Ladies came... none of these current front-line headliners.MrCraig wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 7:37 amThe cheapest tickets on Ticketmaster are $59 each. That's in the nose bleed section of Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and that doesn't include the fees that Ticketmaster adds. If you plan on going with a significant other, and want to actual see the performers, plan on dropping at least $500.
After seeing that I read that there is a class-action suit pending against TM as it has been discovered they are allowing professional scalping companies to purchase tickets and resell through the TM website that allows TM to double dip on fees.

Stood in the pit in Greensboro for $150.00....have a friend who’s a huge fan who bought the tickets....I really thought it would be a bad experience being that close in standing room only but it was great...the area wasn’t oversold...stood about 6 feet from the stage and never really got pushed around...I know a lot of folks on here don’t like EC but he puts on a great show.

Let's forget about Eric. He's obviously more Carolina Blue than he is Black and Gold.

Couldn’t care less if we ever talk about him on this board again, but I still like his music.

Re: Eric Church
I got to the point where the author stated emphatically that Eric "is a Tarheel football fan" and decided to quit there.
Again, he can do whatever he wants, cheer for whatever team. I'm free to do so as well and vote with my meager dollars.

Re: Eric Church
Disgusting. I know he is free to cheer for whoever he wants, and ordinarily that would fine, but this year when we are playing UNC, it hurts a little more.
He could be bringing this amount of attention and buzz to App, his alma mater, but this year his support for UNC seems to be more than ever.
I know it is has been said that he donated to App, which is great, but with his fame, he could do so much more for App than just writing a check.

Re: Eric Church
Maybe if our coaching staff reached out to him like Mack Brown did it would never have reached that point, but it did and it is what it is. But from what I was told by a co-worker, the crowd was booing his song between the 3rd & 4th quarter because it replaced whatever they traditionally played between the 3rd & 4th quarter - I believe he said it was supposed to be James Taylor playing.
