I am attending 1st game at App St....

My daughter is coming up for a campus visit and we are coming to GSU game next Thursday. Where would be the best place to park as we should be rolling into town about 5:30?

Free parking at the Watauga County Social Services Building just off W King Street at 132 Poplar Grove Connector.
Since the game is Thursday the lot might not be available before 5 pm. Normally there is also a feee shuttle bus that delivers you close to Stadium Drive. You may want to call Athletics Dept to confirm that the shuttle is running.

Not sure with it being a Thursday night game. Here's a free bump though.

Which road are you taking into Boone?

Thanks for the offers! We are coming up from Georgia so 321 seems to be the best way in

I go up from Buford, GA for every game. 85 to 321 is indeed the best way to go although with the construction around Greenville on 85, you might want to allow a little more time. Last couple of trips I ran into some pretty significant delays.

I would suggest the First Baptist lot right off King Street. We used to tailgate there all the time. Nice flat lot, close to the bookstore and downtown if you want to do some quick shopping. Cost is $20 and I just called their office to make sure they were going to have the lot open for this game Lot opens around 3:30pm. Money goes to missions and youth programs I think. If I can help in any way or you need more details shoot me a message. Hope you have a great time at ASU!!

Coming from Alpharetta, I either go up I-85 to 321 or go up state highway to Asheville. Both ways take about the same amount of time.

I truly hope your daughter enjoys Boone, her visit and the gameday experience.

Thursday night games are awesome at The Rock, but Saturday games in Boone are so much better. Just wanted your daughter to keep that in perspective when you guys come up. The tailgating and socializing that happens on Saturday game days are so much fun and encompasses that whole side of town. You'll see some of that for the Thursday game, but it won't be quite the same as people won't have as much time to get up there or won't be able to make it at all. The way the tailgating integrates into the actual campus and the downtown Boone area is a great experience. I hope you enjoy your visit!

You seem to be taken care of with a parking pass in a great location. If arriving via US-421 I was going to suggest parking at Grace Lutheran. They only request a donation but do not require it to park. They do have a few rules, mostly clean up and no alcoholic. It does have the advantage of allowing/requiring you to walk from one corner of campus to the other, so you get to see most of the main campus.

He's right, lots of construction on 85 in both Greenville and Spartanburg. Use the free Waze GPS app, it's really good with traffic/construction backups. Not much you can do to get around the Greenville construction but I would suggest using the business 85 bypass to get around the mess that is Spartanburg. It's 4 lanes and parallels I-85 for about 5 miles and merges right back on. (I believe it's north bound exit 69 and reconnects around exit 75)
