Lamb would be the first to say that was probably his worst game in the last two years with missed throws (there were some please don't debate this) and the fumble. He'll be more focused than ever this week and hopefully get a couple get WRs back to go with the stud freshman duo.

We get the chance to put Meadors, Hennigan, Evans, and Malik out their that's a DBs nightmare.

I know they play similar WR positions before someone points this out.
I am hoping so! I'm optimistic he puts it together against wake

Bummed throwing shoulder could explain errant throws. AE said after he was sacked on his throwing shoulder by Michigan, he threw some passes that didnt go where he wanted them to go.

I think that game was the best thing that could have happened to us. Most teams need an L to get a wake up call. We got a wake up call with a W.

Also, Subatch had a pretty good game didn't he? There was that one bad snap that almost went over his head but he brought it down and still got a decent kick...
This....subatch had a great game. Averaged like 48 yards a punts and made an incrediblely athletic play on the bad snap. He definitely used his rugby skills on that one and got off a running punt.
Yes Agree, his punting is improving. For the record it's XAVIER SUBOTSCH.

My biggest concern is the lack of productivity with the run. That had been the bread and better for our offense for some time. If that is not reliable right now (at least the way we have been running), what is our next best option?
Marcus Cox was a very reliable short yardage receiver who excelled at getting YACs. Any indication that any of our current backs could do this well?

Who made the game saving tackle on last play? Listened to radio broadcast and never heard who made the big stop at the 1.

Head coach Everett Withers said he planned to go for a 2-point conversion had the Bobcats scored. “I don’t play for the tie, so we were going for two,” he said. But Withers never got the chance to go for the win after an official review confirmed King was short of scoring.

"We were short a half a yard and it was obvious," Withers said. "(The officials) made the right call."

Yes I figured he would go for 2 - just glad they didn't get the chance --- I'm not going back to read some of the early opinions on this thread but I do remember 1 or 2 which questioned AJ Howard's "desire" ??? :? - Glad he finally decided to actually give a damn

Yep. Even Pierre said if he was Coach E that he'd have went for two as well. We dodged a bullet but a win is a win. Go Apps!

This. I think if we had stomped Texas State, Wake Forest could get even more ugly than it already might be.

An ugly win on the road in the Sun Belt. I will take it.

If we have any speed I hope we decid to use it outside the tackles.

Well I have now watched our first 3 games and yesterdays Wake game. I don't think I am going to have a very good day next Saturday.

We certainly did not play our best. But that QB for TSU is a transfer from Mississippi State I believe and he was spot on. And if I recall TSU also had the top ranked reruiting class by some reports last year. They are a different team than last year.

I thought that after the review, the ref said that they didn't get the play off before time ran out.

Or maybe it was "the call was confirmed and time ran out, so the game is over".

I don't like to harp on play calling (my friend who never played or coached does that enough) but where's the creativity in what we do? We're clearly not big enough up front to blow defenses off the ball, ie rendering the stretch play and the inside zone relatively ineffective. Despite what anyone says, it is predictable and just throwing 10 yd routes isn't enough to open that up. Defenses rarely look off balance against us.

All that being said, stoked to get that win. Good teams find ways to win even when they aren't playing well. Hopefully that's all that was and not indicative of deeper issues. Doubt at this point of the season we're still holding anything back as to not show Wake too much.
I think we have the same friends . . .

I guess we should call it " Howard''s Rob"

Wither's says he would have definitely gone for two and the win. We were inches away from one huge goal line stand. Glad we'll never know how that would have played out.

I am stealing this from T-dog but I agree 100% "Offense was vanilla and Lamb was not good. Eventually he'll have to throw the ball more than 20 yards downfield if teams keep stacking the box against the run. Even some of the short passes were wobbly and had no zip of them."

I believe Texas St. showed how to beat us. Stack the box and let Taylor and our WR's try and beat you. I think the Defense is fine...they gave up 1 touchdown and got a turnover while being on the field for 33+ minutes.
