I don't think we need approval from the legislature. It is a Public-Private Partnership, which allows us to control our own destiny. This was all by design, since we can't get the appropriate money we deserve from Raleigh. This is how it was explained to me. I heard Owens is coming down in 2017.
I believe this was the purpose of designating the West Side of campus and the Broyhill area a "Millennial Campus" which changes the laws that govern funding for projects to allows for private companies to get involved with development.
That's my understanding as well. We're so lucky to have leaders that have the wherewithal and vision to make this happen, instead of waiting around for a hand out from Raleigh.
All of this matches what I've heard as well ... millennial campus, public-private partnership (P3). One of the best things about P3's is that private projects, for some reason, seem to be run more efficiently and a bit closer to "on time". :D This also allows for mixed-use facilities on campus with private industry. Can you imagine a state of the art orthopedic clinic (privately run) being in that building?

These are exciting times, indeed!
The private sector is more efficient. Never.

If you sit high enough on the West Side I'm sure you'll be able to see it. Plus the tallest part of the building looks to be offset. Besides we can look at Howards Knob during tailgating!

Does anyone have an idea on when they plan to expand Club Seating?

Big outdoor tents will work for locker rooms. Duke used these for years.

I think Wake did as well when they built the new field house at Groves Stadium.

They can jump in the Duck Pond, no need for a shower, except Ga. Southern can"t use the pond. Don't need the stink in there.

We have a pool and a pond. Pond would be better for them. Natural springs.

Since this is a private/public funded project, would the private side (assuming Yosef Club room/level) be allowed to sell alcohol?

Alcohol is already sold in the club level and suites at KBS.

I wish we could just sell alcohol throughout KBS. We are leaving a lot of money on the table in that regard.

I'd love to enjoy a beer with my Woodlands sammich.

Hell, we don't even let Woodlands sell iced tea in KBS. Supposedly it is because of the contract with Pepsi.

Dawg, I realize it is sold at the club level. Guess I should have worded my question better. Would Yosef contributors, who don't give at levels that get them in the club/suites, be able to purchase alcohol in the Yosef Club Room if it's in essence a "private" building/room? Just wondering if the private investment would be a loophole to the NC law of not allowing sells of alcohol on state supported campuses and possibly open up an additional revenue stream that is not exclusive to club/suite giving levels.

I posted an article in "other schools" about the Texas Longhorns selling alcohol this season (and last) and generating over $3m in revenue which was $1.8m than in 2015. The article also stated, " On top of the increase in alcohol, Haden said the Longhorns also saw a decrease in alcohol-related incidents."

While I do like Pepsi, given the choice, I'd go beer > tea (sweet) > Pepsi.

I would think that's a very good possibility. I recall going to a men's basketball game at the HCC several years ago and going to the Yosef Club function.... I don't recall if it was halftime or in between men's and women's game.... regardless, beer and wine were available for purchase during that. Though it was not available during the game itself.

It also is a good idea, as you suggest, for Yosef members above a certain giving level to have access throughout the game. Give those individuals a small taste of the "suite / club life"... size potential increase sales it may result in more suite/club level donations in the future.

I would rather watch the game than sit in the club room. Half time is another matter.
