As for the recruitment of K. Phillips and UNCC...honestly he wanted to get the commitment done by the time for the Shrine Bowl....and ECU backed out....and ASU could not make the case to the admissions.

UNCC did and he committed.

In my opinion, had we had a Head Coach, and or someone on the staff that was going to be one and knew it....they could have made the argument to admissions. But we did not....thus he signed with UNCC....so it was "More" of a case of UNCC picking up a player that neither ECU or ASU could, would, get in....and in the end wanted...which says to me...oh me of rose colored glasses....they had someone they really wanted or the lack of a Head Coach really hurt!

Go APPS!

UNCC did not "beat" us on this player!

Why do we want someone who does not qualify without an argument?

I'm sure we have more of those "near qualifier" guys than any of us know - and probably some guys who were program cornerstones. I don't think it's that big of a deal.

He appears to be leaning toward us. But it sounds like he's getting a push from the locals to pick Georgia State. Florida International also was in the picture before Mario Cristobal was fired.

There is always the possibility. Hell, I grew from 7 lbs 4 ounces and 21 inches to 6'3 215, if I can overcome those odds, anyone can. :P

I like this kid. Too bad that he is not a running back because he runs hard with good vision.

Brandi L. Simms of the Sentinel Newspaper in Montgomery County, Md., says in a tweet that one-time Buffalo commit LB George Vinson (6-0, 205) of Damascus High School in Damascus, Md., will decide between Appalachian State, Kent State and Florida Atlantic before the Dec. 21 Crab Bowl. Paging Joel Ross...

I was at the Shrine Bowl practice one day this week and I got some tidbits that may or may not have been posted here or on Rivals.com. McLawhorn was not there that I saw. He probably should have been if he wasn't.

A few players we are definitely looking at trying to get are Rontavius McClure, Chocolate Wilson, Darius Hammond, Aaron Cook, and I noticed that Dutch Fork 6'8 240 pound DE Jamar Winston who was bumped up from being on the original N/S roster is not committed.

McClure is a definite TE in the future because he has room to gain weight and lacks the elite burst I would want but man he can catch and looks the part.

We have offered N/S star Jalen Stevens of Goose Creek and may get him to visit. He's a 3-star guy with offers from UCONN, Arizona State, and Southern Miss. Was leaning USM but their coaching change has put that in the air and he doesn't want to get too far from home. He's also considering Georgia State.

We aren't going to go after Mr. Football runner-up Akia Booker and most good programs aren't because of grades.

As for the NC squad a few guys we either should be looking at or are include 6'7 QB B.J. Beecher, LB Tristan Mumford, QB Noah Subeer, and I thought Pharoh Cooper was committed to South Carolina but it looks like he is not now. Wonder if something happened and we could get him?

T.C. Roberson has a big 6'5 300 pound OL that is not committed. I think we should look at him heavily.

NC also has a WR/RB Aaron Clay we may could get in on but I don't know of the interest there.

Non FBS players committed from the game so far are LB Byron Johnson of Swansea to Furman and UNCC who is moving up has commits from Jachin Watkins of Newbern and Kalif Phillips of A.L. Brown.
