Tip of the cap from the U
Hi folks, a life long Cane here. I wanted to say that your program is well on its way to being a solid regular winner at this level. You were well coached, played hard and clean and your fans were great. The injury to your RB changed the game. But, with a few more years of solid recruiting you will be more like Baylor or TCU and I am glad we got you now and not then. To quote Jon Gruden, the future is so bright you are going to need shades! Thanks again for a good game, and I hope you enjoy a return trip to South Florida next year.

I think your team simply got over-hyped over the game and could never seem to settle down and get in rhythm. But, you have a good coach and talented players. Good luck the rest of your schedule and thank you for being such good hosts.

Re: Tip of the cap from the U
That was my worry going into the game. We really had never been on that stage before and unfortunately it showed. This has been a focused team and the key now is to move forward and put this behind us. Akron will be a significant test on the road.daytonacane wrote:I think your team simply got over-hyped over the game and could never seem to settle down and get in rhythm. Re: Tip of the cap from the U
My worry was what we saw and what I mentioned prior to the game. No pressure on Kaaya and he'd pick us apart. Our secondary was suspect. Knowing this Woody was afraid of big plays hence the success of the bubble screen. We've got a long way to go yet to be competitive with Solid ranked teams. Having said that the U looked great offensively. The D needs some seasoning"..."...
Re: Tip of the cap from the U
True. We never seemed from the start to settle down, of course Miami had something to do with that. Losing Marcus Cox to an injury in the 1st quarter took a lot out of our offense. Against a team as talented as Miami we needed to play a perfect game. We didn't.daytonacane wrote:I think your team simply got over-hyped over the game and could never seem to settle down and get in rhythm. But, you have a good coach and talented players. Re: Tip of the cap from the U
They say that the pressure of hosting a big time game is always on the home team the most and boy did it show. All UM had to do was come up here and do their jobs which they did. I think Richt is coaching with a chip on his shoulder after the way UGA cast him aside and UM is gonna take it out on everybody they play. I hope the rest of the ACC is ready because that Miami defense yesterday brought back memories of the late 80s/early 90s Canes. Dominating.
If anything, I will certainly temper my App expectations and while always wanting us to win, I will remember that for the time being, we are a Sun Belt conference team. I thought the ESPN announcers played it up good though that App is doing things the right way to succeed at the FBS level and eventually, as the landscape goes, we may get a higher conference calling us...someday.
Beats being in the SoCon.

I agree with that, AND the Hurricanes had a great game plan and execution. Richt has already made a big impact in Coral Gabels.daytonacane wrote:I think your team simply got over-hyped over the game and could never seem to settle down and get in rhythm. TpaBayFlyFisher, appreciate you coming over and saying so.
Clearly Miami message board fans are not representative of your entire fan base. Those that I met were super nice. Loved seeing the dudes decked out head to toe in orange and green "samurai armor". It was a hot day, those guys must've had 4 or 5 layers on. They didn't leave that sideline the entire game.
