Happened in Connecticut. So maybe it is a high school knocking off our logo.....

The article says it was an Avon shirt.

I'm hoping it's the latter or something like that. I didn't recognize the graphic on the back of the shirt, so I'm hoping that means it's not us.

Side note: Apex HS uses an exact knockoff of App's white block A logo. Right down to the colors and script inside the letter ("Cougars" instead of "Mountaineers").

I have absolutely no issues with breastfeeding infants, though I do believe it's possible to be modest in the process. I would definitely be offended by a breastfeeding mom (or anyone else for that matter) tossing f-bombs as this woman describes herself doing. Why be so wholesome on one issue and so crude on another?

That is good that it is not an AppState fan.

If that age of a man has never seen boobs before, I feel sorry for him....

Did you watch the video or read what he said to her first? Perhaps she didn't remain perfectly calm while an unprovoked stranger was accosting her and her baby.

I live in Cary and see those dumb Apex stickers all over the place and it drives me up the wall!

I'm confused as to why anyone is "disgusted" by breastfeeding.

This. If someone approached me the way he did while I was doing something acceptable, he wouldn't have been able to walk out of the restaurant. F-bombs would have been the least of his worries.

Maybe a better comparison would be if he approached my wife in that way while she was breastfeeding our infant. I swear, the crazy switch would have flipped and he wouldn't stand a chance.

Yes, I did. I'm not saying she shouldn't have gone "mama bear" on the guy. I'm saying that, even in the face of absolute idiocy and threat of physical harm, it is possible to fight with calculated precision without throwing f-bombs.

As a mom, it has been my pleasure and privilege to do my best to protect my children. That has meant scanning parking lots as we walked back to our car, watching for that one customer in the restaurant who had had too much wine, paying attention to our surroundings to try and anticipate potential threats. All of that awareness comes with the understanding of what mama bear actions might be needed. Those of you who know me, know that the mild-mannered grandma who welcomes any guest has an equally strong-willed fighter who stands ready to defend her own ... not with shouting and foul language but with solid resolve and determination that cannot be shaken.

Yeah I saw that too and was like "Please don't be an App shirt, please don't be an App shirt..." Glad to see I wasn't alone.

What qualifies for news these days.

Apex asked and was granted permission to do that. Not uncommon for high schools to do that

I figured - would be pretty obvious trademark infringement otherwise. It doesn't bother me - actually I kind of like it. As you said, you see it w/ HS a lot, and they don't tend to borrow logos from losers.

Forgive me if I don't remember the context that led to this conversation but several years ago my grandmother sang her High School (now defunct Oak Hill High School in Morganton, NC) fight song and it was exactly "Hi Hi Yikas." I don't know which came first (I assume App State) but it makes sense to me that schools big and small, public and private, high school and college "share" different elements of their respective athletic programs.

That said, does anyone know the origin of our fight song?

Pretty sure the tune is an old German drinking song.

For what it's worth, the woman who originally posed the video, pointed out in her post the man in "the Avon shirt." I'm assuming a high school in that area.
