We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Cindy Wallace Thread where did it go?
Where did the Cindy Wallace thread go? I was reading it then refreshed and couldn't find it. Pressed back button and was notified

What needs to be done to be granted permission?
From the first few posts, this appears to be something all Alumni should be aware of.

It disappeared quickly. The letter and info is all over social media and I suspect will be in the newspaper at some point.

It would be interesting to hear from anyone who likes her. My son is a pretty connected senior and apparently very little is roses.

Re: Cindy Wallace Thread where did it go?
I found a post on facebook from the Appalachian Club Football team expressing their appreciation for all of her help with the team. and sorrow for her leaving.

Re: Cindy Wallace Thread where did it go?
Not trying to stir the pot too much, but I am curious why the thread was moved to politics and current events. I always thought that folder was for a more national scope.
It seems like the App general discussion tab would be an appropriate place to discuss things going on within the App community.
Why try to hide or limit the discussion on the state of Our school and it's staff?
We talked ad nauseum about the football staff and if we had the right person for the job, and if we were heading in the right direction as a program a few years ago. Why is this different?
Serious question. I really don't have any feelings or knowledge either way, but would like to know more about people's thoughts that might.

The discussion has been hidden from casual viewers, but any MMB member may request access to the forum where the topic resides, so I don't think there has been much of a limitation on the discussion, if any.
I think it's different from the football discussion because it involves a termination and it involves a lot people making a lot of comments that I can't verify or refute. In this litigious society, I chose to put it behind a door so that only MMB members are looking at it. Maybe I was wrong, maybe not, but as I said above, it was a judgement call and I stand behind it.

Re: Cindy Wallace Thread where did it go?
What we have here is "campus politics." Appalachian has had a certain reputation for same that goes all the way back to the Chancellorship of John Thomas and the "tree hugger" campaign to prevent the construction of what is now Holmes Convocation Center and over a lawsuit against Thomas filed by a departmental dean. Faculty and students chose sides and off to war they went. IMHO, the decision to move the "CW" thread was a good one.
I believe the "word" was out and known that Chancellor Everts was likely to have a combative tenure well before Chancellor Peacock completed his term. That's not to say she won't be effective, but she likely will continue to be controversial and/or provocative.

Re: Cindy Wallace Thread where did it go?
I was talking to my kid today and apparently Everts is going through something that she has not made public. She has been criticized for not being available at times (HB2 sit in) and sittiing during grad ceremony. Apparently there is a good reason she was MIA and sitting.
From what I have heard the Wallace firing seems like a mistake but these things happen when leadership changes. They want their hand picked team and if Wallace had her own ideas she should be ready for the hammer. By the same token the Chancellor should be ready for the criticism and fallout for firing a well liked long time employee.
The Tanyi situation has been raised a couple times and all I can say is I would hate to be in either shoe and I will not judge Wallace for how that was handled. I believe she was the face but I know that was handled top down. Those decisions are not made without her bosses sign-off and her boss was a friend of athletics so I think it was handled with the university reputation in mind more than anything else. So saying she was the main one as if she lead a personal attack on a football player is inaccurate.
