Unfortunate university calendar conflicts...ouch!

Our athletic program is just around the corner from a number of unfortunate university calendar conflicts. Successful collegiate programs nationwide deal with this quite often, but it does take its toll along the way for some. Count our Apps among those who may face a bit of adversity.

This is, of course, exam week at ASU. Next Monday, Dec. 14th is the deadline for professors to submit final grades. Let's hope that all of our student-athletes maintain their athletic eligibility once fall semester grades post to their transcripts by end-of-day on Monday. Our rosters aren't so deep in football and in men's & women's basketball that one or more players being ruled academically ineligible wouldn't *hurt* badly. It's not clear to me how many players the NCAA allows for traveling team rosters for post-season play. Let's hope that all of our kids make muster for Montgomery.

Another unfortunate twist of the calendar lands the men's basketball 2 PM Saturday home date with UNCC and football's 5:30 PM Camellia Bowl game in conflict for those who'd want to attend both events. It'll be a double "whammy" for Jim Fox and his Apps because students will not be on campus and many of the fans, alums and locals who'd normally be court-side will likely be in Montgomery.

It's a shame that what should have been the Basketball Apps' prime 2015-16 home playing date with a natural in-state rival will take a big hit. Let's hope our round-ball guys set the tone for the day by overcoming the adversity with a big afternoon win over the 49ers--to be followed by a big night football win over the Ohio Bobcats,

Not sure what the rules are today but you used to be able to bring anyone and everyone to the bowl.
