"Victory Yosef" has been named the Worst New Sports Logo of the Year, according to users of SportsLogos.net.

http://news.sportslogos.net/2013/12/30/ ... os-awards/

"I kinda feel bad for Appalachian State. They did what you'd hope any other school or team would do. They asked their fans what they wanted their new logo to be, their fans made it quite clear they wanted what you see above.

While the students of the Boone, NC based university may be satisfied with the use of the "Victory Yousef" logo, design fans were not. Not even close. Which begs an important question, do you just do what your fans want to make them happy or do you try and put out a good design to look good and hope the fans embrace what they didn't ask for? Regardless of their intentions the readers of the site have spoken out and, by far, have chosen the Mountaineers new alternate logo as the worst "new" logo of 2013."

It's keeping us in the news. Probably more so than the best new logo would, and it's certainly better than a 2nd place finish. Go Apps!

Sounds good! Throw it up there with HOT, HOT, HOT! Victory Yosef is my wallpaper on my phone, and HOT HOT HOT is my ringtone. Go APPS!

I also care not what graphic designers think when they misspell the name of the logo they're bashing.

Victory Yosef = HOT, HOT, HOT

A well-intentioned attempt at branding that resonates with some alums and internal ASU folks, but makes ASU look foolish to anyone else without the history/knowledge/background to place it in context.

Let me get this straight. Some PC design bloggers who have nothing better to do than contemplate logos, and who lack the knowledge, as well as historical and cultural context to understand, much less appreciate our SECONDARY logo don't like Victory Yosef and WE look foolish???
Sorry, didn't ruin my holiday :D .

He also refers to us as Appy State. That in itself disqualifies any opinion on the logo.

Those "professional" designers are the same ones who gave us Blosef and the Gorton's Fisherman. Their opinions don't mean much to me.

This being the Christmas and general holiday season I feel that it's appropriate to wish this website a Merry Christmas, hAPPy New Year, and that they acquire a book on the history of Appalachian State University. The history behind "Yosef", the name, the logo, and who we are would be very beneficial.

On a final note, to the authors and/or anyone else who cares to ridicule Victory Yosef, I entreat them to please take note of the sprig of mistletoe hanging from my rear belt loop and act accordingly.

JMU and everyone else would do well to remember:

WE are the ones who knock. WE are the danger...so tread lightly!

Egggg-sactly. Look at the two they picked as "best" (Creighton and the Pelicans) - generic all the way.

Anyone who thinks the goal of releasing a new sports logo is to impress graphic designers... Well I just don't know what to tell ya.

The only people that look foolish are the people on the website that spelled it, "Yousef."

The fact that the question even be asked proves why design (marketing) people come up with such bad products at times. They are so worried about coming up with a technically good/slick logos/ads/etc that they don't care if it means anything to the client or not. That's why we have so many ads with cars swimming under water or for products we can't remember the name of .

To me of course you should go with what the fans/students etc want. Who is it most important to?

Exactly, Maddog. We tried that, and we ended up with Blosef....along with this guy.

My reply to the bogus website.....The Yosef logo is a throwback and is a secondary logo. The primary logo is the block "A" and while not the fashionable choice of design logo snobs is recognized nationally. Personally many of the other logos are too "busy". The secondary logo embodies the spirit, independence and "I don't care what you think" attitude dating back to the early settlers of the region. So enjoy your little contest with the few hundred people who bother to vote on this second rate site.
