I'm by now means in the know at App state and every place I see a story about this people trash her in the comments section. Many talking about real reasons and untold stories, some sharing stories about how terrible she was to people including giving faculty a Christmas bonus but then taking it away. Must have been some wild stuff behind the scenes.

It seems that it was time to go and many had turned against for a number reasons. But, it should be noted that during her tenure the university experienced incredible growth in both infrastructure, financial strength, and student demographics. One simply needs to look at the West campus for the changing face of the school. The university's endowment doubled in her time with all time record fund raising. The number of under served and under represented students, both racially and geographically, are record highs.
I don't post that as a defense of the chancellor or to suggest that her recent actions shouldn't taint her time at App or to say she shouldn't resign. But, we shouldn't overlook what was accomplished while she was chancellor.

I understand apprehension with the BOG making a new hire, but that doesn't mean Everts leaving is the wrong move. She started off poorly, then rebounded with some accomplishments, but the past few years have been full of mismanagement and poor decisions.
When will "It's better than what we had" no longer be good enough for App State?

I hope we get a good one..but IF it’s a too far left or too far right leaning one I hope the student body and faculty en masse walks out. Wouldn’t that be something? Give the big ole finger to the legislature.

Interesting view from someone who has insight into Everts' role in the Sun Belt:

I’ve posted here before that SunBelt people credit her with brokering the most recent expansion and frankly sing her praises. Of course on the latter they know my affiliation. I know no reason to doubt however.

Did i ever see Thomas, borkowski or Wey at any athletic events...much less in the gravel stadium lot? People focus on the wrong stuff sometimes and assign blame when it belongs elsewhere. My wife who is a tough cookie found her approachable and very pleasant. Everts did much more for App and what hapapp shared is dead on.hapapp wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 1:27 pmInteresting view from someone who has insight into Everts' role in the Sun Belt:

Not a fan of Bork when it came to athletics, but he had season tickets across the aisle from me on the west side for years after he retired. He was also in the Chancellor suite hosting donors every game during his tenure. Those games aren't leisure for the university leaders.Rekdiver wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 2:08 pmDid i ever see Thomas, borkowski or Wey at any athletic events...much less in the gravel stadium lot? Re: Hold on to your hats ….
From what I've been reading, it seems there is more good than bad with Everts tenure at App. If after 10 years, you can say that you left a place better off than when you arrived, that absolutely is a success.
Not sure why, other than not being as active as Peacock (which is tough to follow), so many are hating on her.

Re: Hold on to your hats ….
I do believe you have to look at the whole picture. The school made some major advances as I posted previously. She did lose the faculty or at least a sizeable number, enough to garner a no confidence vote. It did seem the students turned at the end as well. A chancellor is often in a no win situation. After ten years you’ve likely made a few enemies. In fairness, one has to look at the total picture. Her detractors will likely only pinpoint her failings.CoachRob wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 2:36 pmFrom what I've been reading, it seems there is more good than bad with Everts tenure at App. If after 10 years, you can say that you left a place better off than when you arrived, that absolutely is a success.

Losing the facility at any university in 2020-2024 could be a badge of honor. Let's just say from a thought perspective they aren't a diverse group.

My daughter was at App in 2019. I can tell you your statement is spot on, not much diversity of thought.

Re: Hold on to your hats ….
That is true. We also have a bunch of faculty that hate athletics and will celebrate if the chancellor does not care about athletics either. Both are heavily important and what some faculty don't understand is that athletics is the window into your university. The Michigan win raised our profile and saw a huge spike in applications from high school students, which helped raise the caliber of incoming class.
