The right man, at the right time, and place. He loved our university with a servant's heart and provided the leadership we so badly needed. Left his mark in so many ways, among so many Mountaineers. May his legacy live on across App Nation.

Rumors abound that he has passed. Nothing from the school.

Very sad moment if true. I was fortunate to be able to spend some time around him before his chancellor days. With all he did for ASU, I just remember him for being a really really good person!

I had the pleasure of knowing him for many years, from the COB through to becoming Chancellor. He loved App. We lost a good one today. My heart is hurting.

I had him for Corporate Income Tax and it was a tough class for me but his energy kept me engaged. I spoke with him just this past spring at the Winston-Salem Yosef tour stop. He did a lot for our university and the business program. He will be long-remembered.

Very approachable, human, and real. His work at App will not be forgotten.

Crushing news. He was chancellor during my time at App. The best advocate we could have asked for at the time. Bled black & gold and one the nicest most genuine human beings. He’s one of the main reasons so many grads my age are OBSESSED with App State.
I loved that man, very sad day.

GO APPS!!

There will never be another one like him. Appalachian would not be where it is today without his passion, energy, and love for the university

Saddest App State news since Gerald passed. Great leader, even better man.

The "other guy" didn't show for our daughter's graduation and I believe Peacock gave the graduation speech - anyway, from that day forward he was the very best advocate for a university than anyone I had seen prior, during that time and since. I loved when he directed the band. He was a man who would make us smile every time we saw him. To this day, his picture with our daughter and s-n-law right after the 3rd championship game is hanging on our wall ---
