Doubt we would have got tickets to see him if he hadn't been in Boone.AppfaninCAALand wrote: ↑Thu May 18, 2023 10:36 pmMy wife just mentioned today that we should get tickets and come up to Boone. While I did see Hootie in town as a student, I'm not particularly interested in seeing him now but any excuse to get to Boone is good enough for me. So maybe we will come on up.

Interesting the tie in between 'Wagon Wheel' and Boone. Old Crow Medicine Show was busking in downtown Boone when a young lady came over and said her father liked their music and wanted to meet them. Her father was Doc Watson and he invited them to play Merlefest

Re: Darius Rucker
OCMS used to play shows pretty often in Boone in those days too. I saw them at Rafters (at least once that I recall, multiple shows could have merged in my memory, as they were just another dime-a-dozen local band in those days). Someone mentioned above in this thread that Ketch wrote Wagon Wheel (or more accurately, added verses to the chorus from a Bob Dylan off-the-cuff soundcheck recording he once heard) while they were living up in the Boone area. That is pretty cool, as I think that is a great song.appbanker wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 10:10 amInteresting the tie in between 'Wagon Wheel' and Boone.
