There's always a correlation where if you like the premise of a column, you think it's well written and the author did a good job. But if you don't, the author is a hack and didn't do their research.

As for me, I dislike Roll Neers. If Auburn won half a dozen titles in the last 13 years, it likely would be "War Damn Neers." But man that column is annoying. It takes four paragraphs and several hundred words to get to the crux of his complaint. And he says that he's only been a full-time resident of the High Country for less than a year? That really doesn't help. It's a classic "Old Man Yells at Cloud" column. Even if the author isn't "old" in the classical sense, they're older than most the people living there. As someone who lived there for a decade post-graduation, trust me, you feel old.

The Chancellor uses Roll Neers. Students like using it and at the end of the day, the students are the heartbeat of a university. They're going to do things and trends that us older people won't like, but we can't and won't change it. I could list things I'd wish would change about the fandom and the students which are way more important than this, but it's not my decision. Ultimately it's harmless. And at the end of the day, those students will look at message board threads like this and will laugh at what they feel are the "Boomer Neers." And nothing changes.

Yes. In my calling it "good article", I was pleased that someone wrote a letter to the year that our opinion piece of some sort as a relatively new fan stating that we're better than this.... But now the writing isn't that great kind of like me dictating this from my phone ....

on a side note, why has the band started spelling APP instead of ASU at the beginning of the game?

Had not noticed that, but Athletics (not sure about the university overall) has moved away from "ASU" branding, to the point that their media notes specifically ask NOT to refer to us as ASU. Right up there with "Appy State" and "app-uh-LAY-chin."

We were required to give it up when we joined the conference due to Arkansas State University.

What is wrong with Go App or Go Apps? We’ve been saying those for years. I’ve started responding with “give ‘em hell” when someone says Go App to me. There’s no need to reinvent the wheel.

1) Bring back - 'Give 'em Hell'...including the drum cadence following the fight song which leads into 'Give 'em Hell!'.

2) Secondly, promote 'Go Apps' (or 'Go App' for those not liking the use of plural as is found in our fight song)! Go, Fight, Kick A$$!

3) 'Roll Neers' is awful - The term is Alabama's and unique to them. It's sounds awful when students and alum use the words; it's embarrassing when used within official University posts/media or by staff. FTLOG please stop using it!

4) While we are throwing out opinions....I'm used to the 'App State' moniker, the band doing 'APP' as part of the opening routine, however, is not a good look IMO. Would prefer just the block A if they are dead-set on getting away from ASU.
