Back side of Eggers in 75-76. Massive amounts of snow that Winter. It was a long trudge across that parking lot after leaving the BI or Broome Kirk at night with frigid temperatures and a strong wind. There were some epic shouting matches with residents of Towers (Winklers).

918 Bowie and it was a brand new dorm my Freshman year. My roomie use to shoot flaming arrows toward Conrad from our room and we use to drop condoms full of water from there down on unsuspecting residents that would detonate in the tree.....Then we moved to Eggers 4th floor for next year. We were a mess.
Couldn't you think of a better use for condoms, Rek? :)

I think those who miss the stadium lot miss it specifically because of the tailgating aspect. There is little doubt in my mind that the aesthetics and function of the campus are being upgraded significantly with the new construction.
I was a student from 2002-2007 and stadium lot tailgating sucked. The lot was never more than half full. The party was down in Raley. Free parking. First come first served. The lot would open at like 6am so people would be there bright and early tailgating.
Oh, I don't claim that the Stadium lot was the site of the BEST tailgating. It was the place where higher dollar donors tailgated and was extremely convenient. It also presented the "picture" of a big time game day / tailgating atmosphere and I think many miss that. Please note, I absolutely do NOT begrudge the donors who parked there and I very much appreciate the support they have given the program. I'm only speaking to the overall attitude toward the changes. I think most people ultimately understand that changes have to happen. Sometimes it just steps on our nostalgic memories.
I’m talking about stadium lot circa 2000s, not a few years ago before they shut it down for the dorms. In 2003,4,5 stadium lot was half empty. By 2016-18 stadium lot was killer.

I was in Bowie 508 freshman year in 2004. We had a bunch of players on our floor that year - Kevin Richardson, Hans Batichon, Brandon Simpkins and Cory Rycroft - maybe more that I can’t recall.

Freshman year 82/83 in Bowie.I disagree on the parking lot - thought it was great. It was the first time I took a ride on a couch across a parking lot on the ice to get to class!

I remember one particularly rainy Saturday when a bunch of students figured out that the hill beside the Eggers steps would make a great mudslide. Probably wasn't either the smartest or safest idea but I'm sure it was fun.

Our dorm also killed room delivered pizza. Someone figured out that if you kept the elevator stuck on a high floor the Dominoes guy could not get your pizza delivered under 20 minutes (or whatever the guarantee was). Some delivery guys actually left the other pizzas in their cars unlocked. Needless to say early in '82 you had to come to the lobby for your delivery.

I recall many a brutal trek from the dorm to the cafeteria or the BI. Busted my tail a few times on a frozen field.

Biggest problem with Bowie was that you couldn’t stack but 6-7 cases of beer in the room and still have room to move around. All legal - drinking age was 18 in the ‘70s.
