Next phase campus transformation

Unread post by HighlandsApp » Thu May 19, 2022 7:04 am

There is some good a stuff in this link for request for design/build of addition to Peacock Hall and renovation of Edwin Duncan. The projects were recently combined into one project rather than two. There are drawings of new parking deck and elimination of the Peacock parking lot. Download the first pdf link to view:

    https://pdc.appstate.edu/rfps

All of campus is really going to be beautiful. Less asphalt is fantastic.

Completion in May of 25. That's pretty impressive. Thanks for posting!

That New River Light and Power parking lot refurbishment is going to turn the campus upside down.

Seriously, the ice melt system will be nice.

I also see they've got a renovation planned for Wey Hall. Holy sh*t it needed it. That's where most of my classes were and it was pretty much a dump but I loved it. 15 million to do it is pretty crazy though. Interested to see how it turns out.

It's amazing we've never been able to get funding to renovate some of these buildings. The North Carolina legislature wouldn't give us the money to renovate Samford and the school had to borrow money and then initiate a student feed to tack on every semester to pay the debt. Edwin Duncan is being renovated it's never been renovated and it's 60 years. Way Hall is 50 years old and it's never been renovated. IG Greer is a train wreck and I believe likely a demo project. During the Edwin Duncan Reno, the offices are going to be relocated to East Dorm. AppState's been underfunded by the legislature for way way way way way too long...

Looks like the bookstore is going to borrow some money to do some renovations too. Looks pretty nice:

Agreed. I can't speak on the other buildings but I remember professors in 2018 saying the Wey Hall renovation has been in the works forever because they couldn't get funding and even then the building isn't really made for what it's used for. I think it used to house WASU back in the day.

We seem to be pretty adept at building solar cars. That should somehow track into Biodiversity.
