Oh, the humanity! Stephen Colbert has sour grapes because Sanford defeated his sister. He decided to go overboard with criticism!! The man has absolutely no taste. He deserves every bit of mustard-based hash he gets!

agreed, he should have left our bbq alone, but you cant blame him for being bitter, his sister just lost to a guy, who just a short time ago, was the governor who had a mistress, and then tried to disappear forcing an entire nation to find him, and the voters in SC are willing to forgive and forget? Now this guy is going to Congress and shape the future of our country?!! Only in SC could this happen.

Don't forget that he used taxpayer funds to travel overseas to see his mistress. Yet, he claims to be a "fiscal conservative." I suppose that after electing Mark Sanford and giving Newt Gingrich a primary win, South Carolinians will stop with the "we support the 'sanctity of marriage'" now.

"He deserves every bit of mustard-based hash he gets!"

I have never figured out what the heck that hash is in SC. I will eat most anything but not that hash.

NC bbq rules and especially Lexington Q. Like the man says you don't need no sauce when you know how to cook the pork.

Finally a good bbq thread, what's next cups and ice?

Headed to the Monk later today to eat some brown chopped...I need a fix.
Sanford...wasn't he the guy who didn't know the difference between the Appalachian Trail and Argentinian tail?

I had my fix from the Monk on Wednesday with a lean brown coarse chopped tray and plenty of hush puppies :D

Actually the whole government is populated by idiots like him. He really is no different.

I want you all to know that I tried that hash stuff many moons ago when I first moved here and someone said "let's get some BBQ." I took the high road and was polite but you won't find that stuff in my house......ever.

FWIW, I got a good NC BBQ fix a couple weekends ago when I stopped in at Woodlands. 'Nuff said.

Is it a statement about the people of South Carolina or Colbert's sister? :?

I don't talk politics very often but feel the need to defend my new congressman. It seems his infidelities are overshadowing his success as a 2 term governor and congressman before that. He was a good governor who saved the state alot of money while declining government stimulus money. People here obviously feel we can look past his mistake and rely on some one who we think can best represent our district in Washington. I have found the national media seems to always overlook the good and report the bad. I hope I'm not proven wrong in my cofidence in Sanford.

I voted for this guy for governor but could never support him again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

But wait, I thought all that kind of stuff was just a person's personal life and shouldn't play a role in how they govern/legislate. Remember? That's we were told when a certain POTUS met up with his mistress in the Oval Office. :o

I think a disloyal politician is better than a lap dog. In politics things don't happen without people cutting deals, making compromises, selling out constituents and generally being willing to endure scrutiny for their actions, good or bad. If it was easy everybody would want their jobs. Fact is, very few do.

I don't live in SC and didn't have a vote but IMO, the biggest problem isn't that he cheated on his wife. If we kicked every adulterer out of office, we'd have no government. The biggest problem is that he spent taxpayer money to vacation with her in Argentina and then disappeared.

FYI: my whole point in posting this was a comedian was blasting NC BBQ when he hasn't got a clue about good Q. It's like letting Gallagher tell us for whom to vote; not much credibility if you ask me.

Did not mean to open a political can of worms.

I do not live in SC, so obviously not in your district, so I only offer this as an outsider. It's not that he had a marital affair that amazes me that he can still win an election. It's that people will vote for him knowing that he 1) lied to his staff, 2) lied to the people he represented, 3) lied to his family, 4) used public funds to travel internationally to conduct the affair, and 5) is arrogant enough to still claim that he is trustworthy and fiscally conservative. Anyone that votes for him knowing this, should not complain if he again lies, cheats, and steals.

It's cool. Clearly he doesn't know what he's talking about. Everyone from NC knows Eastern Style is the superior to all other Q.

His skit was funny, and that's he's good at. Thanks for posting the link!

Don't worry about it - you could post a thread about the benefits of earth worms in your yard and if it's the off-season, the talk will eventually devolve into a thread about a) politics, b) religion, or c) bbq. Some may even argue that there's no difference between the points b and c.
