Sounds like those who doubted Roof while he was here are eating crow.

Not really. Roof struggled at the beginning of his time here. If you didn't see it, you're blind. He ultimately figured it out and was successful here.

That’s awesome for him. I hope he has great success there.

Venerables likely will be calling all the shots on defense. Doesn't seem like a guy that will be able to turn loose of that phase of the game. We'll see.

Re: Ted Roof at Oklahoma
Makes sense Roof was at Clemson this year as defensive analyst so I'm sure he knows Venables terminology and tendencies

Struggling in your mind. He was just getting his feet wet. Remember the first half of Coach Satterfield's first season as HC here? Was he just figuring it out? Who is blind?AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 4:13 pmNot really. Roof struggled at the beginning of his time here. If you didn't see it, you're blind. Re: Ted Roof at Oklahoma
I wouldn't say Roof struggled as much as it took our players time to learn the schemes/assignments.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 4:13 pmNot really. Roof struggled at the beginning of his time here. If you didn't see it, you're blind. He ultimately figured it out and was successful here.
One of the best seasons we've ever had. So I suppose it all worked out.

I sure hope not. TD Roof became a team leader this year. We need him back in the black and gold.

Re: Ted Roof at Oklahoma
I could be wrong, I do not see Roof leaving to play at Oklahoma. I could see him leaving to be a graduate assistant if he desires to be a coach. Be a great name to have on your resume early in coaching career.
With that said, hope he comes back as I believe we have chance to be very good next year.

If #15 TD Roof stays for one more ride, he will be a Defensive Captain and DPOY.

Re: Ted Roof at Oklahoma
It was the other way around. Roof had to learn our schemes/assignments since that's what the team was built with -- players that fit our style.Bootsy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 7:51 amI wouldn't say Roof struggled as much as it took our players time to learn the schemes/assignments.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 4:13 pmNot really. Re: Ted Roof at Oklahoma
Apples to oranges. You clearly didn't watch the defense until the UNC game if you didn't think Roof struggled at the beginning of the season. Heck, he tried to change the defensive game plan on the Thursday before the first 3 games because he wasn't comfortable with calling our defense. He ran our defense all through spring camp, preseason camp, etc and then tried to change it WAY too late into the process. It took him going to the box at UNC and Gaspo being the eyes and ears on the field for him to understand it. Kudos to him for realizing it and suggesting the change!NewApp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 7:42 amStruggling in your mind. He was just getting his feet wet. For Satterfield in his first season as a HC, he was using FCS recruits to play against FBS talent. Roof had established studs on the defense and struggled at first. Satterfield also did struggle at the beginning. He, also, ultimately figured it out and was successful here.

Re: Ted Roof at Oklahoma
The defense struggled but maybe it wasn’t his fault. Players may have been getting into the defense. Point is he turned to be correct. You didn’t. Look at where he is now.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 4:13 pmNot really. Roof struggled at the beginning of his time here. If you didn't see it, you're blind.
