Yesterday was the 81st anniversary of the floods that hit western NC and ended train service to Boone.

Freshman year 2002 I rented a parking space in the old Scotchman motel on 321 - a heavy flood had my Camaro under water up to the bottom of the window sill. It pushed 3 or 4 cars together causing some moderate damage. Luckily my car was about #8 in line so they didn't get pushed that far. But it took me hours of vacuuming and baking soda to get the smell out.
