The bit about Foggy Pine Books starts at 1:33 mark. Also has shout outs to First Baptist Church and Boone Saloon from Tom Hanks.

This is an incredible story. I must have been in the kitchen or bathroom when it aired during the Super Bowl. Sounds like it’s already paying off big for the store. Very cool!

This put a big smile on my face.

Sam Elliott, Tom Hanks and Stephen Colbert talking about Foggy Pine, King Street and Boone Saloon. What a time to be alive.

Speaking of which, I wish I was drinking a Turbodog at Boone Saloon playing pool right now.

In 1972 when I was a freshman there was either a dentist or optician in that building who sold parking spaces. Don’t remember the cost but that’s where I parked all year when freshmen weren’t allowed to have cars on campus.

Leave the politics out of it. I think he did us a solid.

He absolutely did us a solid. He's not only hilarious but a good old South Carolina boy to boot.

There used to be a map store there back in the 90s it seems.

I purchased a map there and they still owe me that map. Never got delivered. I am beginning to think I may never get that map now.

I still own a small globe I bought from that store. I believe Dan Stillwell, a Geography professor at App, was one of the owners. Store was near the Carolina Pharmacy, one of my favorite places on King Street in the 70s.

I can’t tell for sure from the picture but that looks like Dr. Harmon’s office. He was an opthamologist and had an optician in there also. Bill Robinson, Lee Owen and I rented the apartment up stairs. We used to juke the Coke machine down stairs. This was Winter and Spring Quarters of 1967.

Does anyone know if Foggy Pine's has had a huge uptick in business since that commercial aired?

I saw a tweet from WBTV earlier this week saying that the owner said business was up pretty significantly on Monday. That's awesome.
