I'm anxious to see who returns from the 07 squad for the home opener.

Wasn't Savannah State the team we had so much griping about on here when we played them back in the FCS days?

I thought most of the griping came last year when it was announced. Most FCS griping came when you saw the Division II schools on the schedule like Mars Hill and Lenoir-Rhyne.

Just speaking for myself, if we're going to schedule a FCS team, I'd love to swap Savannah State for James Madison.

Naw. If we must schedule down, I don't agree with scheduling tough FCS teams. It is a lose-lose situation for us. It is the same reason we could only schedule the best of the best P5's when we were FCS, aside from ecu a couple times.

Amen. JMU would be a potentially tough game that we'd get zero credit for winning and be a laughingstock for losing.

Chancellor Peacock put Mars Hill on the schedule, you know.

That's the Cheaters approach to scheduling App. That's why we don't see the holes on the schedule and likely won't. I can't say I disagree with it. It's a lose lose proposition for the "big boy".

I didn't mind Mars Hill, just stating some bitched about it then the way they bitch about Savannah State

How much credit do we get for beating Savannah State? Since when is App "afraid" of a tough game? If we are in a situation that we have no other choice but to scheduled an FCS team, it may as well be against a tough team that will draw a better crowd. I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one.
Okay, I'll meet you half way - let's exchange Savannah State for Vermin (we owe them anyway).

Zero credit for beating Savannah State but also zero risk of losing to them. Which is exactly what it should be when playing an FCS IMO.
I'm all about playing tough games - Marshall, ECU, Miami, Wake, etc. - just want them to be ones that will benefit the program if we win. Beating any FCS does nothing for us now, and I would guess the difference in attendance would be nominal and almost all on the visitors' end.

Although we'd get no credit for defeating an FCS team, I'd still like a little competition, needless to say Savannah State does absolutely nothing for me. Since scheduling an FCS team is necessary from time to time, an old SoCon (Wofford, Furman, Chatty) foe would probably be a better fit in my opinion.

Keep in mind this was on short notice due to schedule moves. Plus one fcs counts torward bowl eligibility

Savannah State instead of JMU? WTF! That's it...I'm not renewing my season tickets.

We would have to pay JMU way more than we're paying Savannah State, or might even have to agree to a home and home.

I would like to see the same, but our old foes can fetch more money playing SEC & ACC schools. After all, they have a limited number of money game opportunities every year and I am certain they have to maximize those opportunities. As sad as it may be, fElon will likely be the only former SoCon (still FCS team) we are likely to see in KBS in the future.

Don't forget ETSU is coming.

Keep in mind this was a late change to the schedule after Akron asked to move their return trip to Boone back.

Guess Akron didn't want our record against MAC teams to increase to 4-0.
