Aaaahhhh Peppers . Yes and be sure and get a Jean Lawson Special sandwich (turkey , pepperjack cheese,mushrooms, etc....) and a big plate of onion rings . Can't wait until Friday night.

I used to be a Woodlands guy. Then I moved to another part of the State. Woodland's BBQ is decent. The sides are good. But I could name 5 other restaurants in Boone with better food.

That's why they make chocolate and vanilla.

I can't think of any in Boone that can touch it and I've been eating in Boone since the 80's. But it all depends on what you like.

If you live in Durham and eat east coast BBQ you've forgotten what good BBQ is anyway.

I do eat at Los Arcoiris from time to time. Good student prices on food and beer. Glad to see Boone has mexican food, they built the Taco Bell (I know it's not mexican) right before I left.

Yes, except the building Makatos was in was a medium to pricy steak restaurant at the time, similar to Steak and Ale.
Peppers is now out in the strip mall close to Perkinsville.

That location hasn't been there for several years. Peppers is in the Shops at Shadowline.

Thanks to everyone I might have to check it out this year, I might have seen it but it never really comes up with my girls, so I may have forgotten about it.

I use to like Peddler's also but it was kind of high priced for a college couple (until we knew the manager and he'd give us half price off on our Ann'y and B'day's which is the only time we went).

Their steaks were good, but I loved their salad bar because you could get smoked oysters. Nothing better on a salad then a load of oysters.

It's not downtown but I've been to Casa Rustica (Highway 105 south) several times and I really enjoy their food.

I've been to many. Virtually all the "famous" spots and every hole in the wall I can find. It's what I live for. Maybe I should write a book.

There's nothing like the smell of passing Woodlands on a crisp, gameday morning. I'm surprised they seem to be moving more toward a barbecue/Mexican combo- I like Mexican, but what's up with that?

As far as breakfast, I'm still mourning the loss of Knights on Main and the "old" Mountain House, but Sunrise isn't too shabby.

Same here you could hear the piano music playing down the hall. Only could afford to eat there one time since I lived off campus the only meal ticket I had was the US Army and work. (Just kidding of course)

Well there is only two kinds of BBQ - good and bad. If it's not lexington style BBQ (slow cooked, covered in "dip", with FF and red slaw and hot sauce) it falls into the later. (Yes Texas and KC beef falls in the last group as well, and I've had them in texas and KC. Forget Memphis thick sauce as well...last group)

If you're down east Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q is pretty good and fair priced as well. Also the Lexington style at BBQ House on Oak Island isn't bad either.

Knights on Main was a good spot that we would hit up a couple times a year. Any word on why they shut down?
