There is a reason there are thousands of Applebees' and only one black cat...

Applebee's serves you a glorified Lean Cuisine as you overpay and finance their television commercials.

I understand familiarity and eating the same crappy meal for decades appeals to some, but the moment you try a Toas Boat at Coyote Kitchen, named the best dish in the High Country in 2013, you might have a food epiphany.

Nothing like enjoying a game at KBS in the fall, followed by a great meal at Applebees.

Don't like Chris Berman on the commercial spots doe.

 More Kobe beef tacos and Caribbean burgers for me.

You might have to head over the KC if the Applebees microwave is malfunctioning.

When you're not following Charlie Cobb around heckling him that is. 8-)

I'm sure our AD has better taste than you though. So you might have to go to a decent restaurant.

However, you either jump on board in this world or get left behind. Many students choose colleges by what is offered not only in the school but the community also.
I'm not saying they make choices on if there is a Wal-Mart or not but it sure doesn't hurt.
If you look from a student's standpoint they probably like all the businesses Boone has to offer. It's the older folk that want to preserve it.
We are becoming our parents...
I actually think we are in an era where towns that sell out too much to big business end up getting left behind. Small towns that have completely sold out to big businesses are in death spirals. You can see it all over the country. But, by and large I think Boone has done an OK job of balancing things so far.

I always find it humorous when folks argue over taste. I would never presume to tell someone where they should eat and what they should like. There is a certain elitism in that.

Strongly agree. It seems to me that taste is primarily culturally conditioned. Though I do think we see populist as well as elitist arguments over taste.

Personally, I hope people will try to shop local when they can for its benefits to the community - not because of taste. I don't see the point in reducing this into an argument over whether Applebees or Coyote Kitchen is better. I'm not an Applebees fan myself, but I do enjoy many chains, including Mellow Mushroom, Cookout, Chipotle, and others.

This guy gets it.

It's more than just what tastes better.

This sounds like the type of guy who would vacation in Sicily and eat at Olive Garden every night.

It is all about personal choice. I personally don't like Coyote Kitchen. I personally hate Crapplebees. Back to the subject a close friend of mine is a GM at an one of Boone's big chain restaurants and he has heard Buffalo Wild Wings is probably bound for the old Ruby Tuesdays. I can handle that. Any place that has football on 20+ TV's at once is my kind of place.

Am I the only one who thinks that Boone and ASU need all the restaurants they can get including the privately owned as well as the "chains."

Wow, a three page thread arguing over restaurants. You guys crack me up. Am I the only one seeing the idiocy in all this? Step away from the computer and get some fresh air.
