Wasn’t it somewhere around where the oil well , oil change place is. In those days it was Hardee’s only competition.

Someone told me it was at the entrance to the mall area and that it was one of the worst burgers ever, but if you got back safely from Blowing Rock without a DUI, you might be desperate enough to stop there cause it was about the only place open late.

I have no idea, it was before my time, but that's the review he wanted me to give for him.

I loved them. Much better than Hardees, Mickey Dees, BK, etc. of today.

Wasn’t Richard Petty a big backer of Rays?

Picture from FB wouldn't copy:
My memories of growing up in Yadkin County in the 60's wouldn't be complete without Ray's King Burger!
Started in 1964 by Ray Goad in Mt Airy and by the mid 70's they were close to 40 restaurants NC, SC, VA, and Tenn.
Ray pioneered the first early morning breakfast menu in his restaurants and the TV commercials with Richard Petty can be found of YouTube.
We loved our Ray's and would visited the one in Jonesville NC. I swear those burgers were as big of pie plates to us kids.
