Not this alum. Would love to get a chancellor that continues or even increases support for athletics and frankly keeps politics out of the academic side as much as possible.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 8:34 pmand some alumni as well.

A chancellor should be a champion for every aspect of the university, academics, athletics, arts, etc.

Academics is politics, if you have ever tried to attain any degree above bachelors you know what I am talking about.appstate24 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 9:36 pmAmen!RaleighApp27609 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 8:47 pmNot this alum. Involving politics in education only serves to undermine education. Truth should dominate education and educators should be open minded enough to let facts, observable data and results drive what they teach. I have a problem with anyone who would “celebrate” any administration or professor who would let politics be his or here driving force. That person isn’t interested at all In education.AppWyo wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 9:42 pmAcademics is politics, if you have ever tried to attain any degree above bachelors you know what I am talking about.appstate24 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 9:36 pmAmen!RaleighApp27609 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 8:47 pmNot this alum. Re: Hold on to your hats ….
It is hard to argue against that, but the reality is that decisions are not made in a vacuum when it comes to funding and dealing with all that goes into running a university. The BOG is clearly political right now, and some would argue it always has been. It would be hard not to argue that given how the BOG is put in place for the UNC system. Getting rid of DEI is a political thought. Starting and keeping DEI is a political decision. Renaming PRIDE week is political as is having a PRIDE week to begin with. Don't confuse policy decisions with the classroom teaching and learning. Though even curriculum is political. Why is nutation taught in the high school earth/environmental curriculum for one example of curriculum decisions that seem a bit odd at face value.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 9:52 amInvolving politics in education only serves to undermine education. The next Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives will be an Appalachian State graduate.

Re: Hold on to your hats ….
There have been 120,000+ graduates of App State or so. I don't know the history of all of those people. There are three or 4 graduates I am embarrassed to call fellow alums. Maybe this person will not be one of those, for some reason I am not very hopeful.

Re: Hold on to your hats ….
Assume this is about the interim announcement today? Unless we already have a permanent replacement but I wouldn't think so.
