You were a Badassador? Cool, I was friends with many of you! All the ones I knew were pretty solid individuals.Saint3333 wrote:Many memories as a college student sitting outside and eating a buffalo chicken wrap on Fridays after giving tours as an Ambassador.
I don't have an issue with them.

Both two of my favorites, though I'm more partial to Murphy's now. I do miss Bear being there, though. He was dealt an unfair hand, IMO.EastHallApp wrote:Klondike forever. Saw quite a few concerts there. If everything in Boone were shiny and new, it wouldn't be Boone. But this is coming from a guy who makes sure to visit Murphy's most times when I'm in town.

I passed this info about Parthenon closing to our daughter and son-in-law (both APP grads) and today on their way to Asheville for a week-end trip with friends they decided to detour thru Boone so they could have one more meal and beer at Parthenon...

The "80:20" principle refers to the statistic that 20% of the consumers of alcohol account for 80% of the total consumption of alcohol. Under North Carolina law, certain businesses in certain areas are required to open their books for the Commission. If their revenue from the sale of alcohol exceeds the sale of everything else, they can be sanctioned or even shut down for non-compliance.dman4x wrote:What are the 80/20 laws referred to in this string?

I did not think this was a big deal in Boone any more. How does a place like AMB exist under these rules? Now when I was in Boone pre-liquor by the drink it was impossible for a "bar" to make it. There were restaurants that sold beer but I remember a nice place opened I think where Foot Sloggers is, they had live music and beer. Had a half-ass buffet and charged a small cover that included the food. Their ploy did not work and they were closed down I heard because beer sales out weighed food.Gonzo wrote:The "80:20" principle refers to the statistic that 20% of the consumers of alcohol account for 80% of the total consumption of alcohol. Those laws have been relaxed a little bit, and they have had to in order for NC to become one of the leaders in craft beer. If a restaurant depends on alcohol sales to be relevant, eventually natural selection will take place. The restaurant won't last, but that isn't the reason Parthenon is closing.appbio91 wrote:I did not think this was a big deal in Boone any more. How does a place like AMB exist under these rules?
