I doubt it will happen for 2022. I'm only saying that because the teams going to the B12 (from the AAC) have to give a 27 month notice, so they'll still be in the AAC in 2022. Never know though.
It would be difficult for them to do for football. They will need to get to 85 scholarships and I don’t know that they would be allowed to sign enough kids between now and then.
I think, because of Covid, they are already pretty close to 85 scholly's. Whether JMU can or can't come aboard for '22, I would bet the other three will be able to.

Who do you want to see next in the sunbelt east? How long before the sunbelt east forms its own conference?

Good question. Are you assuming a replacement or add?

Add two more to each side, 9, then split, or the Sunbelt could become the first modern day 18 team conference. The east and west working as its own entity.

No more expansion. I'm happy about the 4 we have added though. No one else interests me...unless ECU calls...LOL!!!!!!

So, Karl Benson laid the foundation for where we are today but it seems Commissioner Gill handled this re-alignment situation expertly. Well done Mr. Benson and Mr. Gill...

App gets to play the teams it wants to play on a regular basis, when it is all said and done, maybe ECU and Charlotte join too or ECU and A&T. The future is bright in the Sunbelt, Funbelt!

I’m definitely no Gill fan, but he seems to have done this right.

Now whether he just Charlie Cobb’d into one hell of a situation or actually had a heavy hand in making it happen is anyones guess.
Give 'em hell!

That’s a great idea. A 9 team East and 9 team west. Just play the other 8 every year plus 2 P5’s, a solid G5 and an FCS maybe. Keep all travel fairly locally to save revenue, home games will all be sell outs for several teams. East and west winner play in the championship (maybe best record decides the site). Play each other for basketball (16 division and maybe rotate 4 or 5 of the other division each year). Top 12 play in the conference tournament. Decide how to do the other Olympic sports. Lots of bus versus air travel.

That would all work by adding ECU, Charlotte, Middle Tenn and Western KY. Wouldn't that be fun.

Column A/Column B.
He had the bones of CUSA and did a good job at taking teams that helped where we needed it and would make the best where the east and west would be closer.
Yes the stage had been set, but he performed, not just said lines.
That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

Ok my wish list for Mr. Gill is to rearrange our bowl tie-Ins and please get some or at least one P5 tie-in…. and second to that would be with AAC or MWC…… to prove our strength. But also have to say kudos and a job well done Mr. Gill.

Hopefully, since ESPN has been the driving force behind the Sun Belt re-alignment, and with the AAC headed down, we'll get some better bowl tie-ins once all of the pieces are in place. ESPN owns a large portion of the bowls I believe....

How many purple streamers can they buy with that kinda coin?

I'm guessing a chunk of that is going to the CAA as an exit fee. And also to fund the transition. But, a lot, that could buy a lot of purple streamers.
