It would take a little thought and effort to make the tournament a quality event. Obviously it’s not important.

I like the idea of rotating. I’d do Chatty in the East and biloxi in the west. Close enough to geographic centers. Nice regional airports far enough away most fans would book hotelsappst89 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 6:58 amSo, I used AI to find the center point of both the East and West divisions. The center point of the East Division is Salisbury, NC, and the center point of the West Division is Brookhaven, MS. Based on that, the Sun Belt tournament should rotate between Winston-Salem and Jackson, MS if we are trying to most accurately pinpoint locations.311neers wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 10:26 pmCouldn’t pay me to go to Pensacola.
Greenville would be a good option. But competing with Women’s SEC tourney I believe. All the good sites are taken. Top choice should be to alternate wherever the SEC doesn’t go, Nashville or Atlanta. Nashville, maybe New Orleans for the west side of conf. to make them happy and ATL for the east side of conf. to make them happy.

Re: Bball Games of interest
I feel that some championships rotate now for Bball because conference geographies are so spread apart. It would make sense for SBC to rotate as we have a West and an East division over a pretty sizable georgraphy distance.
SEC has done ATL/Nashville.
ACC has done North Carolina/Brooklyn.
Would be cool to do a New Orleans/Nashville (maybe even Memphis) for the west host and a CLT/GVL/ATL for east host sites.

Re: Bball Games of interest
With the new format, it is clear we are trying to get a higher seed in the NCAA tournament. I wish we would do one of these two. Make the regular season champion our representative or let the conference champion host the tournament. If we go to regular season conference champion, I wish we would go to a round-robin and play everyone home and away including the west teams. I would much rather play SBC west schools than the teams we have been signing up. I think the viewership would go up for the sunbelt because the games would matter. I would be interested in other games if we needed them to lose for us to make the tournament. I think the Reg Season conference champion getting the dance ticket would be a win/win for the Sunbelt.

Certainly more interest than Oakland City, St. Andrew’s or Central Penn. 🥴. I would much rather play SBC west schools than the teams we have been signing up. I think the viewership would go up for the sunbelt because the games would matter.

Yes, wouldn't "Swiss" or "Swedes" in the context be more than one.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 9:01 amI said The Swedeapp97 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 1:50 pmSwissNattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 11:40 amWe’ll bring in our secret weapon, the Swede, for that game.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 10:39 amCooper Flagg is a damn good bball player. Re: Bball Games of interest
No need for a tournament if the regular season winner gets the bid. Rigging it so heavily in favor of the top two, dampens most of the March Madness excitement at least that I enjoyed over the decades. To be fair a Sunbelt team is not going to win the NCAA anytime soon, why not let everyone slug it out for our championship on a level playing court?

Re: Bball Games of interest
If a top seed is upset by a team, say lower than a fourth seed, they had no business going to the tournament anyway. I do not care how strong or weak the league is. Play a classic bracket and go from there.

Not sure how many of you ever watched Hell on Wheelz on AMC, but The Swede was the main antagonist in the show. The Swede just sounds better though. If you call him the Swiss, people will just think he plays really bad pass defense.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 11:14 amYes, wouldn't "Swiss" or "Swedes" in the context be more than one.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 9:01 amI said The Swedeapp97 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 1:50 pmSwissNattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 11:40 amWe’ll bring in our secret weapon, the Swede, for that game.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 10:39 amCooper Flagg is a damn good bball player. I like a classic bracket but think only the top 8 should make the SBC Tournament. Have some reward for playing well during the season.

I agree JT. I can't imagine these tournaments turn a profit. Limit the number of teams, set a schedule, and return the championship game to Sunday, much more fan friendly.
Fans are traveling in numbers if their team finished 10th anyway.

And rotate the locations between the West and East, places that are good for hosting events and are travel destinations. New Orleans for the West and Charleston for the East. Can make a vacation of it if your team craps the bed in the first round.

Re: Bball Games of interest
In regards to the games tomorrow, do we pull for JMU or Troy, and do we pull for Arkansas State or Marshall? I’ll pull for South Alabama over Coastal even if it hurts us as we all should. But if we win, we have an opportunity to possibly be in a 2 way tie for 2nd or 2 way tie for 3rd. If we lose, we could possibly fall all the way to 6th.

We have the tiebreaker on JMU, so hope Troy wins. I would say we're better off with Marshall losing than Arky State.
