He will nearly triple his salary from 500K to 1.5 Million or so. But it is clear he wanted the hell out of Statesboro. This could set The Stink back especially if takes the staff or majority with him.

Time to poach some recruits.

Been hearing this for two days. Guess it's finally getting out there. Guess Willie is getting his "anywhere but Southern" wish.

This is unfortunate, I didn't think he was a great coach.

Congrats to Mr. Rogers I mean Willie Fritz for getting his Christmas wish. He might have taken an FCS job to get out of Statesboro.

Yes he did want out. He wants to throw more and find a qb who can. Wonder who will get the GASO job. Ayers, maybe the OC of Navy or GaTech.....

I agree with others that Chadwell is the obvious choice. He runs the good ole high school offense Stink fans can't live without and managed to achieve success despite having to show recruits the worst looking stadium in Division 1 football.

I actually feel bad for southern fans. This will do nothing but contribute to their inferiority complex.

It helps to have wide outs who can catch, too. :D

$1.5M is a nice raise and at Fritz's age it was likely in his best interest to make the jump if the opportunity came along. I'm just sure he didn't supply film of the App vs GaSo game from this year to the Tulane administration. Chadwell would be a good choice if he will make the jump.

Chadwell would be a nice choice for GaSouth--but GaSouth wouldn't be a great move for him. It would instantly "brand" him as an opportunist--forever looking for the next stepping stone.

Career-wise, Chadwell needs to stay at CSouth long enough to build something completely on his own merit. Same reason Scott needs to hang around ASU for an extended period and leave a legacy--if or when he decides to move on. Now isn't the time for either of them to be looking around.

While I think GS will likely hire a better coach, and be even tougher, I'm glad Fritz will no longer be on the recruiting trail going directly against us. The tactics his staff used ranged from dirty to unethical. I'd rather compete against stand-up coaches who do things the right way any day.

Maybe before he leaves he can jump in Eagle Creek one more time and wash that Georgia State footprint off his arse.

Another young TO coach would be Mike Houston from the Citadel. Led Lenoir Rhyne to the Div II National Championship game and was named SAC coach of the year 3 years in a row. This year he led Citadel to the Southern Conference Championship, beat South Carolina and was named SC coach of the year.

Maybe this isn't the thread for this but..

I see similar accusations thrown around in other places about other coaches, sometimes our own, with nothing to back it up. My question for them and you is, how do you know this? If you don't have concrete proof (maybe you do, I don't know), its not cool to make those accusations.

the dead period for recruiting doesn't start until Monday, hope our coaches go after the GS recruits hard this weekend and try to get a few to turn our way. As far as coaches, agree the Citadel coach makes a lot of sense, he obviously can coach, and the faithful in Statesboro will get their wish with a coach who runs a triple option offense.

Looks like GS has already lost one commit in Tori Delesline.

Paging Moose...are the coaches still looking for a LB?
