Guess our two QB system back in the day turned out well for both. Jeremiah has a pretty sweet gig at the NFL network and Reaves is working out well! Congrats!

Yep. Jeremiah was a fine person too. My younger son was about 3 when Jeremiah was playing at App. After one game, we got a photo of him on Jeremiah's shoulder. That photo stayed on my son's dresser through high school. Good stuff.

BTW, in my experience as an App fan, the Reaves / Jeremiah platoon at QB was about the only time that a 2 QB platoon worked well up here.

Hell, by 2000, it was pretty much a 3 QB Platoon with Burchette! That was mostly thanks to injuries...DJ partially tore his MCL vs. Wake, and Reaves shoulder was shot by the end of the year. We had QB depth that would've made a lot of I-A teams jealous that year!

Burchette was a great guy too. I did not recall they played the same season. That USA QB reminded me of Burchette. 6'2"-ish, 240 lbs., with a cannon for an arm. And, back then we ran the power "I". Burchette flattened more than one DB after pitching the ball.

Yep. He was pretty much the starter by the end of the year...a more physically imposing and talented QB than the other two...though DJ was probably the best leader of the 3.

Joe could sling it, though...friends who worked for the team and played catch with him said their hands were sore after a few attempts at catches! Moved pretty well for his size too.

Still say that might have been one of the most talented teams we've ever had. It was my last year at App, so I might be biased...

QBs - Jeremiah, Reaves, Burchette
RBs - Karim Razzak, Jerry Beard, Jimmy Watkins, Jose White
WRs - Rashad Slade, Troy Albea, Sterling Heyward, Joey Gibson
FB - Joey Hoover, Neil Cornatzer
TE - Daniel Wilcox
OL - Billy Young, Wayne Smith, Joe Patrick, Larry Brock, Brian Metts, Tex Vasquez, Tyler Elkins

DL - Ryan Watson, Josh Jeffries, Leon Moore, KT Stovall, Jamie Lovern, Jimmy Freeman, Jason Sowell, John Mannino

LBs - Joe Best, Wes Hunter, Justin Seaverns, Sam Smalls, Brian Mower
DBs - Corey Hall, Chuck Payne, Scott Cornatzer, Remi Awolowo, Steve Kitchens, Dushon Martin, Reco Washington,
K - Erik Rockhold, Mark Wright
P - Nate McKinney

Amazing how much having a terrible OC at the time held us back. That team should've dominated I-AA, but came up a few yards short in Missoula.

Yep. That was one heck of a football team. Should have beaten the Griz. But, even Armanti could not do that out there. That's a whole 'nuther story.

Hall and Wilcox played on Sundays. Did anyone else?

Seaverns and Ryan Watson both got brief stints... And Wayne Smith was the 1st overall pick in the CFL Draft! Think Albea would've had he not torn his ACL in preseason with Colts.

How does one partially tear a ligament? Does that mean it is not completely torn away from the bone?

I believe a partial tear may be a shearing of a portion of the ligament.

If we had packed the right cleats we may have. Our guys were basically playing on skates that day.

I remember the Equipment Mgr. at the time not being the sharpest tool in the shed...so that's not surprising. I don't think people remember how many just plain absent-minded things went on with the program pre-2005. Thanfully, we ended up with enough young assitant coaches that decided they were tired of coming up just short all the time...
