UNCC vs Charleston Southern
watching this game right now on WCCB in CLT.
Charleston Southern up 28-17 at half. Bucs should be up by more, but fumbled once inside the 20 and missed a FG right before half
No atmosphere to speak of at all in that stadium. no crowd noise on 3rd down or defense in general. still empty seats with one corner very noticeably empty on TV. looks great on TV with that CUSA logo on the field
the only player on UNCC I would want at App is Austin Duke. has game changing speed at WR. maybe Khalif Phillips too, though he would be our 3rd best RB probably.

It's a suitcase college. Nobody is there. Nobody cares. I still can't believe they started football. I hope they lose every game they play and have to fold the program.

What little crowd they did have left after CSU went up 34-17 at the beginning of the 2nd halfAppAttack wrote:It's a suitcase college. Nobody is there. Nobody cares. I still can't believe they started football. I hope they lose every game they play and have to fold the program.

They barely have enough dorms to qualify as a suitcase college. Still a commuter college...a CC.

Bucs win 46-41 in OT. Gashed them on the option pitches all day. Charleston Southern should make some noise in the playoffs this year, if they make them

That's exactly the way it was when they started their run at the national basketball championship in hoops in the Melvin Watkins-Cornbread Maxwell era. Fair weather fans, but they are hiding in the bushes nonetheless.AppAttack wrote:It's a suitcase college. Nobody is there. Nobody cares. I still can't believe they started football. They are hiding in the word work waiting on success before they participate and spend the money.
They sure got J.R's attention when he forked over $10,000,000 squid for naming rights on the stadium...and there is even more easy corporate money to come when they get their 15 minutes of fame. You can write that on the wall.
Their day in the sun will come no matter how brief when we least expect it even though Charlotte is a Carolina Blue, Panthers, and Bob Cats town.

Where are no Bobcats in Charlotte.

Even though they have changed their name to Hornets or something, they are still the same ol' Pole Cats to me.AppinVA wrote:Where are no Bobcats in Charlotte.
I wouldn't walk across the street to see them with free tickets no less.

Well clearly you're an authority on Charlotte sports.NewApp wrote:Even though they have changed their name to Hornets or something, they are still the same ol' Pole Cats to me.AppinVA wrote:Where are no Bobcats in Charlotte.

doesn't speak well for the future of your program, people are already losing interest in their second season, official attendance over 14 thousand, but probably no more than 10 thousand with 3 or 4 gone by halftime, getting students to come and actually stay past halftime seems to be a real problem. Personally I hope they do okay, not better than us of course, but good enough to start a great rivalary.

Re: UNCC vs Charleston Southern
Nope, I don't pretend to be. I just ignore practically everything about NFL, MLB and NBA sports except a very casual interest in what a former App player or coach achieves. I don't even pretend to know who is still on any of the rosters. And don't give a rip. If pro sports disappeared tomorrow I wouldn't lose a bit of sleep except to pity the formers in the unemployment lines.Gonzo wrote:Well clearly you're an authority on Charlotte sports.NewApp wrote:Even though they have changed their name to Hornets or something, they are still the same ol' Pole Cats to me.AppinVA wrote:Where are no Bobcats in Charlotte.

Your sarcasm and put downs humor me. Just shows how juvenile you are.

Re: UNCC vs Charleston Southern
There sure is a lot of hate for Charlotte on this board. What the hell did the niners ever do to you guys??
You should rightly be proud of your tradition but what's with putting down a school that's trying to achieve the same and trying to build a new tradition for it's students and fans?
Your really reaching with all this talk about Charlotte being a suitcase college and a CC. You obviously haven't been there in a long time. I looked up the numbers. App only has 340 more students living on campus than Charlotte. And we have a ton of students that are practically on campus due to all the surrounding off campus apartments.
The thousands of students who have a great experience there every year would totally disagree with you on your assessment.
I for one cannot wait till we play app. That's going to be a big game for us and something tells me it will be a big event for the app community as well. The fact that we both get to play a local team instead of the insane travel that we both have from the Belt and CUSA is going to be awesome. You guys were lucky you got to take your big rival with you to the Belt. I really wanted app to be in our conference. I think that would have been huge. Maybe it will happen one day and if it does hopefully you guys will have a little more respect for your neighbors.

Posters on this board have noted quite often how we have droves of students and fans in general leaving at or just after half time. It never bothered me much as long as we got their ticket money.
