It may not affect us, I think if they had decided on 9 games and no FCS it could have upped the chance for us to play an ACC team.

If they had gone to. 9 and no FCS games it would have meant more one and done deals with G5 members and smaller payouts, essentially as FCS type arrangement.
We are likely a couple years away from that happening at this rate.

That's what I was hoping for but I think the ACC is just willing to follow the SEC's lead.

I am not hoping for that. If they stay at eight G5 teams will be able to schedule home games vs P5 schools, if they go to nine kiss that goodbye.

I think they are talking 9 conference games but it was hard to tell.
Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher, however, said he didn't agree with the notion that the Pac-12 playing nine conference games was automatically tougher than the ACC playing eight
I was mainly interested in the non-FCS talks. To me if they couldn't play Western etc, they would fill with G5 teams. I don't think they'd want to replace FCS teams with P5 teams.

Gotcha - did they (or will they) limit how many FCS games each team can play? - I know it was a concern that some had on here that if we didn't move up these big-money games might disappear ---

Who knows, but I think the ACC doesn't want to put themselves at a disadvantage to the SEC so they'll hold off. It seems like a catch 22, everyone wants a game to rest their starters (even if they bite off more than they can chew), but you don't want your schedule seeming weaker than the SEC. So as long as the SEC is doing it so will the ACC.

It will only take one conference, likely the big ten, to stop playing FCSers and others will follow. It will depend on how the SOS is determined, if FCS are treated negatively bye bye.
