According to the report, a move to the FBS level would increase revenue between $4.4 and $5.6 million over projections staying at FCS, by the fiscal year 2019. Of course, costs would go up too. The report estimates expenses would grow between $6 and $6.4 million by 2019 with a move to FBS.

Ok what am I missing here. This is a good thing? looks like a shortfall to me. And what conference did they use to figure their numbers? All packages are not the same.
I don't understand this one any more than I understood ours from a financial point all other things aside.

Actually by 2019 all viable conferences will pay roughly the same. CUSA's next TV deal will be smaller than the current one.

As a numbers guy I understand that thought process. But losing $1-2M more playing at the highest level of division one has intangible benefits in the eyes of some. I can argue either side of that debate.

If this were about making a profit about 25 schools would sponsor college athletics.

If that comes to be I hope they didn't use CUSA figures. I understand the intangible thing but in my experience it is very difficult to pay bills with intangibles. They usually want cash or check, and sometimes credit card.
You are right on about the 25 schools and that may be generous. So here is another question. How long can it go on? Student debt is so far out of control they will never get to the point where it is all paid off by the students. taxpayers will be footing that bill to some extent. When do the student fees come under so much scrutiny that universities are forced to cut back or eliminate the athletic portion of them. In fact if you pull out the student fees I'll bet the number of schools would be closer to 5 than to 25. ( I am having a slow day as you can guess )
And by the way this is not an FCS/FBS thing. I am referring to all collage sports at all levels.
