I can't picture Chadwell at UNC. About as stark a square peg/round hole personality fit as there could be.
Yeah, I can’t visualize this either.
But I’ve been known to be wrong…just ask my wife.

UNLV does not live up to nil promises to players...now they may not be able to pay their new coach

UNLV is presumably eager to build on its best football season in history—but in true Las Vegas fashion, the Rebels will need cash to cover their latest gamble.

The school can only cover the first two years of the five-year contract it handed to new coach Dan Mullen on Dec. 12, athletic director Erick Harper said in a Board of Regents meeting reported on Wednesday morning by Mick Akers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

I was reading that this morning. I think it said they were 26 million in debt already.

I’m not sure what angle they are getting at here but there debt service #s for fy2023 were only a little higher than ours and on about 10 mm more in revenue.

This all seems like a play to get more state support or something

Schools are so desperate to appear to be more than they are that they lie about money and over pay or over promise. Schools should pay within their budget and be responsible. I don't feel bad for UNLV one bit.

I was really wondering how a peer G5 program could pay so much more than we were capable of paying a head coach. Guess the short answer is that they really couldn't.

Anyone else think more stories like this will start coming to light in the next 12-18 months?

Matt Brown said a number of schools are reconsidering their D1 status, but no one wants to be first because of increased costs.

Of many G5 schools, UNLV really shouldn't be one that's financially struggling. That reeks of mismanagement. There's a lot of money in Vegas, and not all of it is gambling money.

And BTW, UNLV fired their basketball coach today, so the money was there for that.
