(Yes, its behind a paywall. I can't help you with that..) Absolute must read for App St fans. In short, how they briefly fell off the big stage and have come back. Spoiler alert: It's not by doing the same things they've always done.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results for sure! That is a good read!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…we know what we have. Is it acceptable? If not, changes need to be made. Trying the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is not going to work.

We are not Boise state. We will never be Boise state.
In 22-23 they made 60 mil in athletic revenue.
In 22 we made 38 million.
We are not the same or even close. Boise is the premier athletic brand in their state. Sadly, we are not. We have to compete with the ACC for every scrap. They do not.
I know people want to desperately grab to this idea that we can be the Boise of the east....but we aren't, and we won't be. We have far to many mitigating circumstances, many that we literally can't overcome.

Gillin is in a tough spot if he wants to make a change because he needs to wait until Dec 2 so the buyout would drop but that is just too late. I really think Gillin should come out either in full support and guarantee of another year or announce a change will be made. Can Gillin announce that Shawn won't return at end of season so people know we are looking for a new coach but still wait until Dec 2 to formally let him go?

We absolutely could be the Boise State of Football for North Carolina.
We were on the brink of being the best program in NC hands down in 2019. Then flopped with the next hire.
The current state of football in NC (ACC) is horrible, just waiting on a leader to take over and apparently no one wants it.

I don’t believe that he, or anyone of influence wants to make a change. There is frustrations and concerns but not to the point that they pull that trigger.

We're not at boise state level yet but I'd hold back on saying we'll never be there. Remember App dominated an FBS conference for half a decade after "they" claimed lil' ole Appy State would never be competitive in FBS at all.
True, Boise does enjoy #1 status in their state, but the entire population of Idaho is ~60% of Charlotte metro. NC has more than 5 times as many people as Idaho. We don't need to be the premier athletic brand to be as good or better than Boise State. Does anyone think NCST has less brand power than Boise even though they aren't the premier brand either?
We need to be lucky and smart but we could pass Boise State with building on 2019 rather than breaking down what was built.

Seems pretty simple to me.
If you want to go +-6-6 with a 2/3rds full stadium next year, you keep him. We're a .500 ball club our last 35 games.
If you want to try to get back to regional (used to be national) relevancy and a full stadium, you find new blood.

We will see. I think Shawn has to win both games to ease concerns. I just don't see him maintaining his job with a losing record against FBS the last 3 years and missing a bowl game in 2 of 3 years.

We're not comparing apples to apples here. The Boone population is about 20,000; Boise is about 236,000 and is the only FBS team in the state. One does not have to pay ESPN(+ $10/month) to watch Boise State on TV. Boise grads can stay in Boise after graduation and find work. How many people in the Charlotte metro care about App State athletics? How many in the Boise care about BSU athletics? Unfortunately, we're a medium fish in a small pond (Boone) competing with four big fish (P5 schools) in a large pond (NC) that siphon off fans/interest which equates to $.

I once again start with, I really want Shawn Clark to succeed. But this is our worst season of his tenure and this is the season he completely owns.

I think that the decision has likely been made one way or another. Winning both games does ease concerns but losing them doesn’t necessarily change anything either. As you said, we will see what they decide and what the fanbase reaction will be.

Lol wow. I love the assumptions people make. We will never be Boise State. Yall can believe it until the world ends and it won't make it so. Let me know when yall find that extra 20mil+ a year we would need just to try to be where boise is right now. I'll wait..........
It really isn't a good comparison and never was.
Now as far as the comments about us "dominating fbs"....please. Dominating FBS is what Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and a few others did the last 15 to 20 years. We got some great wins and some nice seasons, but dominating? Cmon man, be reasonable.
Lol and the roach comment. Goos grief. All the things I've said on here over the years and you think I'm roach like. Whatever helps you sleep at night I guess. That dude has some serious real-estate in some minds on here.
Whatever, I'll leave this thread alone too so yall can wallow in it playing pretend.
