SBC Bowl Percentages
From the SBC board:
Here's each teams chances of making 6+ wins for the rest of the season using SP+:
JMU: 99.99%
Louisiana: 99.9%
Texas State: 99%
Coastal Carolina: 97%
Marshall: 91%
ULM: 61%
Georgia Southern: 61%
South Alabama: 60%
Arkansas State: 43%
Appalachian State: 17%
Georgia State: 16%
Old Dominion: 8%
Troy: 7%
Southern Miss: 1%
Winning four of the bolded games above seems like a tall order with our hand.

Guys, we've had seasons turn around before. Let's give these Mountaineers a chance.

Re: SBC Bowl Percentages
It just shows that it can happen. Someone made the comment about "lies from Jack Branch Drive are real". I am convinced that we have folks on Jack Branch who say that to many people hoping they get sympathy and a longer leash. The reality is that we will likely never draw 10M a year in NIL so they hope it continues to buy them time. ULM is blowing that excuse away. I want it to work out for Shawn even though I don't think it will. I do hope we turn it around. If the second half of the season is close to the first half then I want a change to happen.

Re: SBC Bowl Percentages
Something I've been thinking- even if we turn it around, win out, win a bowl, etc. Is that how we want our seasons to go? The last two years the team has started slow and turned it around late. App won't ever have another 9-10 win season if they start every season with 3-4 losses.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 10:38 amIt just shows that it can happen. Who would ever wants slow starts to a season?. No one....However, I will never hope that App. St. game ends in a loss for a longer term different outcome in the future. (i.e. different coaches, etc. the young men put in the work, I want them to experience the thrill of victory.MrCraig wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 11:41 amSomething I've been thinking- even if we turn it around, win out, win a bowl, etc. Is that how we want our seasons to go? Re: SBC Bowl Percentages
Nothing is impossible and no reason to give up on the team. However, the turn around last year happened after App found ways to lose games late and by a single score. Thus far this year that has not been the case, we have trailed by double digits in our losses with no real chance for victory. The turn around would be much starker than anything from last year.

I was at most of those games you're referencing from last year so I'm well aware of how they went down. I stand by my original statement. The team gets a complete pass for the Marshall game in my book, it's impressive that they were even able to play.hapapp wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 12:57 pmNothing is impossible and no reason to give up on the team. Re: SBC Bowl Percentages
I’m saying, hypothetically, if Shawn Clark gets say 4 more years of employment, and every season starts 2-4 but finished 6-0, would we be ok with that? Or would there eventually come a time where the fans and admin say the slow starts are too much?BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 12:47 pmWho would ever wants slow starts to a season?. Re: SBC Bowl Percentages
Agreed. Think about this. The expectation this year was 9-10 wins and to play in the SBC title game. How are we going to do if our talent is only viewed as good enough to go 7-5? Do we just win 1-2 games? Right now we are underachieving and never living up to expectation.MrCraig wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 11:41 amSomething I've been thinking- even if we turn it around, win out, win a bowl, etc. Is that how we want our seasons to go? Re: SBC Bowl Percentages
The best strategy is to onsides kick every time. It doesn’t matter where on the field the opponent gets the ball, they’re going to score a TD. This is our best chance to prevent a few scores. It also gives our defense less time on the field, so maybe they make a play or two. We do this, we have a chance to win 4 more.

I never said anything about 10 years from now. My comments were about right now and how we have been doing.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 6:11 amGood grief. Clark’s current deal actually goes through 2026.
