Lenoir Rhyne AD
They've got some big shoes to fill to replace her. A ton of growth for them under her. I'm not privy to any insider info, but from the outside, she seemed fantastic. I'd take her up the mountain, but DG isn't that old yet, and I don't see him going anywhere anytime soon. (Not saying I want him to) I will be curious who was able to poach her.

Re: Lenoir Rhyne AD
I'm not any kind of insider, but all I am saying is she was only making $119,701 at Lenoir Rhyne.
Patrick Ransdell was making $149,620 here..
Just sayin'
Also, for Pates replacement, I know for an absolute fact Janet Cone at UNC A would make that switch in a heartbeat if there was any interest.

I had no idea that they have won 9 National Championships in the past 8 years. That really is remarkable and the sign of a very well balanced athletic department. While we have a long and storied tradition of football, most of our other sports have been lucky to be competitive over the long haul. It would really be great to have championship level competition throughout all our programs.

For the past 6 years I have resided beside their campus. What they have accomplished since then is indeed impressive. I have long suspected they took their ques from the late great Dr. Kenneth E. Peacock.
There was a rumor years ago they extorted us on a payday, after which then AD Charlie Cobb changed our sponsored outfield billboards at the Crawdad's stadium to read something like "championship football played just 50 miles away".

I don't live adjacent to campus but I'm only a couple miles away up 127 but in knowing a good many LRU folks, it sounds like a complete dumpster fire over there. The President is leaving at the end of the year, but it sounds like that is WAYYYYY too late for most LR alums/boosters. LR was on a solid upward trajectory before he (Whitt) took over but he's gutted the place, to hear it from those in the know. It sounds as if the leadership has been in a constant state of upheaval, numerous programs have been shuttered and dismantled, and the Board has done everything they can to "re-set" the path LR was on under the former leadership and donations/funds are drying up, except from a few key individuals who are trying to run the show for their self-serving favor.CVAPP wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 5:43 pmFor the past 6 years I have resided beside their campus. It seems that Kim Pate had reached her breaking point and after her years of progressive forward thinking leadership of Bears Athletics, spent trying to grow the brand, facilities, etc., she was receiving enough blow back and pushback from leadership to basically say "Screw it...I'm out". It's sad. Having been born and raised in Hickory and lived here all but a few years of my life, LR sports were finally ascending to the point where you knew they actually existed in Hickory, which sounds crazy being an App man and knowing how Boone and the High Country is interwoven with our school, but Hickory and LRU have never been that.
I almost NEVER even know when it's a game day in Hickory, living 2 miles away, as the campus and LR community is that insular, even with a successful program and football, for example, drawing an average of 5/6,000 per game but you wouldn't even know they were there, short of maybe hearing an echo from the stadium loudspeaker. I had begun noticing more signs around town, LR flags flying, students actually out and about on weekends rather than always back in their hometowns...now I wonder if that momentum will sustain.

Sounds like I need to meet you and share some stories.
