I think it's amazing how fast Coach Prime and the Buffaloes burned through their good will. This time last year, they were everybody's darlings. Now all I see is hate. I count myself as one of those people. NDSU is going to come into this game with the mother-of-all chips on their shoulders for sure. It'll be interesting to see what happens to Colorado this year.

In many ways I blame ESPN. They shoved them down everyone’s throat for a year.MrCraig wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 8:27 amI think it's amazing how fast Coach Prime and the Buffaloes burned through their good will. It's hard to change culture as Coach Prime is finding out but, I've got faith. Buffs are coming baby. Bison are going down. (my son's school, we both were big donors with out of state tuition)

Re: I Think The Bison Roll The Buffs
Oh 100% but Prime and his team ate up the attention too without humility when everyone knew they weren't going to have a winning season with the schedule they had to play. The fact that they only won 4 games hasn't seemed to humble them at all.appstate24 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 8:58 amIn many ways I blame ESPN. Yeah, I got pretty tired of hearing about the great Prime last year.
I remember him saying after winning their first game that he was about to get comfortable, lol.
He’s a bit much for me.

I always thought he was overrated as a player and an attention whore. He was really good, but his fame came from his mouth and flamboyancy.

I don't normally pull for the Bizzzon, but when I do, it's because Coach Mouth is on the other sideline!

NDSU plays in Johnson City Sep 14. Tough start for ETSU this season. They do, however have Va Wise between us and the Bison.

I don't know man, a guy who was a star in two major sports has to be pretty damned goodNattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 12:14 pmI always thought he was overrated as a player and an attention whore. He was really good, but his fame came from his mouth and flamboyancy.
Agree about his flamboyancy.
I think the Buffaloes will handle NDSU. Prime has NFL talent on his team.

Definitely not overrated as a player. His football stats would have been better if QBs would have thrown his way. Definitely not a HOF in baseball but good enough to make MLB.
On coaching side...time will tell. Getting kids to Southern was easier due to his name recognition and less on coaching ability. However, you have to coach a little bit to win in any conference. If he somehow gets Colorado to top of Big 12, I will give him credit..that book is still being written.

He was a dangerous return man and one of the best cover corners. But, he wasn't a complete DB. He didn't want anything to do with tackling in the run game. Played offense as well. Very, very talented--Very Exciting!... but not a hitter.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 6:03 pmDefinitely not overrated as a player. Re: I Think The Bison Roll The Buffs
The HOF thought he was complete enough to let him in the club ..and win SB. Given his skill set and a corner, and need as a returner....I would not be laying myself out unless required. It would have limited his years in the league as injuries would have diminished his ability to cover.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 10:37 pmHe was a dangerous return man and one of the best cover corners. Hear me out...Deon is the Trump of CFB...
He is the first iteration of a new breed of coaches in the sport that is entering a new phase. His success won't be measured in wins and loses so much as it will be in how he changes the position of head coach. What will be really interesting is the lineage and breed of coaches that follow him.

Re: I Think The Bison Roll The Buffs
You would be hard pressed to find another similar situation like this. A coach takes over a horrible team and instantly gets massive national exposure, lots of prime (no pun intended) games and is barely at .500. I don’t think I can think of anything close. I like some of the “old school” stuff he spouts but the arrogance to think he can run half the team off and reload with FCS level talent..and win big is really a tired narrative.appstate24 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 8:58 amIn many ways I blame ESPN. The media pushing a narrative pandering to someone for their gain. That’s every freaking day.
