Could someone with access say if any G5 teams are included in this? Thanks. Just curious what the talking heads are saying since they more or less control the playoffs via money.

The article below has a nice notable quotable :
https://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... dules-2024
"The Mountaineers are perhaps the Sun Belt Conference's best team and no stranger to making life tough for the big boys."

Note: Maybe Drink can coach, he hit bottom now he's on the edge of a top 10.

App was mentioned but only in regard to Clemson's schedule.

"The Tigers have a manageable schedule, with just enough quality opponents to outweigh the likes of Appalachian State and The Citadel."

If that can't get our boys fired up, I'm not sure what will. I'm sure they won't have any trouble getting hyped for that game.

Missouri has some deep pockets helping his cause. They are the only major sports school in the state. Mizz st. is just in the MVC.

He did alright except choking on GaSouthern, imo while he was on the poor side of town.

Do not confuse frugal with poor... Appalachian has always done more with less.

Looking back, I am glad that he lost to Georgia Southern. When he decided to leave it felt like we had been used, it was nice that he did not have a perfect resume here.

I believe he used up our team as well. The players were never the same after that season. However, I do believe that his being here served as a cautionary tale for the future.

I will never say I am glad to lose to Stink....and the opportunity to have an undefeated season.....that is short sighted thought process for a personal dislike for a coach or how coach left the team..IMO. We would probably have been in NY6 bowl game. I think that would have been pretty good for the kids ..

Anyone says they glad we lost to Stink...
Needs a mental well-being check up🤣🤣🤣🤣

What I am finding common among many of the "top team" analysis and who may make CFP is that App finished well last year but didn't overly impress people. As such, they think we are in top tier of G5 with a "chance" but until we can show we ARE the top G5 some of the others are going to get the nod as a more likely G5 candidates to make it. I can't say I am offended as if I were on outside looking in I would say Clark and this team have to prove themselves before they start considering us more likely to finish the deal. Liberty did go undefeated, albeit against inferior schedule but they did it. Their coach delivered some results at CC. Some of the others like Boise, UTSA and Memphis has made more noise recently so they get more benefit of the doubt.

If we had beaten UNC-CH, Wyoming, etc last year (basically closed the deal on those games) then we would probably be the favored child this year. We have to close the deal for the season under the current staff to get that benefit of the doubt. IMO.

999 out of 1000 coaches that come to App are trying to “use”App to get to a higher paying job. The moment we stop losing coaches to P4 teams will be the moment we become a program in decline.

They might love the place and the people but the dollars are going to do the talking, Scott Saterfield.

Yes, it hurt to say that, because I was in Kidd Brewer when App beat Georgia Southern in '87, 19-0. However, at the time all we knew about Georgia Southern was they were the two time defending national champions. They took the loss much harder than we knew at the time.
