Not sure I'd want to be known as the guy who spent 9 years as an undergrad so he could continue playing college football.
As injury-prone as the kid has shown to be, how likely is his dream of having an NFL career?

I like when someone posts about an App guy that he "got a job and is moving on with life". I read this article last night and could not believe the guy actually was in the signing class of 2016. So by the time he's actually done playing two complete groups (based on 4 years of college) will have come and gone. I think the absolute max should be 6 years to include a freshman redshirt year and maybe one for medical if that happens. Personally I think the extra grad school year is ridiculous. Do all of these guys who do this actually stick around for the Spring and continue in college?

He’s really on had two injuries, one serious enough that he missed three seasons, then an early season ender the year after he came back. He played two injury-free season after that. This is simply an extreme situation that is unlikely to occur again. More power to him. I don't mind that he wants to play. I do think it's ridiculous that the NCAA allowed it. Nothing matters anymore.

The thread title is a little misleading. He won't have played on the same team for 9 years. In fact, he will be on his current team for only his second year. Not sure I understand the issue. He hasn't used up his eligibility. ETSU had a player in 2021 play his eighth year.

My understanding is he got a three-year medical waiver because his injury was so significant that he was out that long. He will have only played five seasons. Sounds like without the medical waiver, he’d have finished his college career a while ago. One one year is Covid year so not that bad. Still a long time to be hanging around college ball but there is clearly a good reason. Needless to say the NCAA is extremely inconsistent with medical redshirt decisions. What is their criteria exactly?

So? Chris Weinke was when he was at FSU, after playing pro baseball. What does his age have to do with it? I'm more curious in what college credits and degrees he has at this point. The medical redshirt are whatever at this point. What do you do for 9 years? That's a PhD or a bachelor and 2 or so masters.
