Coaching Clinic

Stink offering Spring coaching clinic. Never liked the stink, but think this idea would be a popular fan engagement and money maker at App State.

I made the suggestion of a Football 101 for fans like what Jerry did for the ladies.

Is your question on response to the football 101 comment? If so, my guess would be that if it doesn’t generate 5 figure revenue, they aren’t interested.

It’s rather unfortunate but that’s my opinion based on recent conversations.

Coordinating and putting on a coach clinic is a lot more work than meets the eye with very little benefit.

Instead, we send coaches to speak at clinics across the country. This is more fruitful.

This ^^^^. If there was a worthy revenue to time/resource consumption ratio we would already be doing it. You'd have to charge a pretty penny for it to be worth the time. 100 coaches at $50 per is only 5k. Subtract facility fees, any food provided, staffing for the event outside of our coaches and more. Suddenly that 5k vanishes pretty quick. If you try to charge $100+ then you will out price most of your clientele.

I can't see them being charged for facilty or even at this point catering. Staffing would be working regular hours.

Based on all the reasons provided in this thread to not do it, riddle me this… Why did Stink decide to do it?

Easy. Helton doesn't have the high school coaching relationships in Georgia... We do.

A number of staff in this regard are hourly workers. Don't assume they are all salaried contracted workers. Depending on which facility they use there are operation costs. Yes, lights and AC/heat cost enough to matter for day long events. Set up would be required as well. Material costs for anything printed. And food supplies even if it's snacks and waters. Yes catering would cost if they do it as food is not free. Even if it is wellborn food the resource costs have to be accounted for. Extra cleaning and trash collecting. I'm sure I'm forgetting other costs but yes it all adds up even the nickel and diming items. It may sound silly at some points but when you are budgeting out for an event you have to account for every penny spent. Absolutely nothing is free. It's coming out of someone's budget.

Ok. Since I'm near this realm daily, I'm going to yield, and end in this topic that I dont think the numbers would be as high as you may think. Entirely doable. Agreed. Nothing is free.

It looks like a cost-effective way to develop and strengthen relationships with people absolutely critical to our success . Critical.

We should just give them access to this board. They could learn much more than just talking to paid coaches.

It's not what they learn that's important. A coach who played at App told me at seasons end that the time necessary to build relationships with high schools was not being invested . Something like this would be a step in that direction.

All of us on this forum should be hosting the clinic. Based on posts on this forum, the App. St. coaches should be first in line to learn from experts on the YC...🤣🤣
