Not sure why you think major sports are going to die? They're going to be stronger for those conferences for sure.
And yes, I see this move happening.

Re: Big Ten...Uhhh Sixteen
I have to believe they will be trying the Big 12, a PAC 10 without the LA media market won't fare well in tv deals and they are already light years behind the other conferences.

Re: Big Ten...Uhhh Sixteen
I imagine that B1G regrets adding Rutgers, Maryland and especially Nebraska when they could now be adding USC, UCLA, Stanford, California and Washington.
The little three are going to have a hard time going forward with the big two so dominant.

Re: Big Ten...Uhhh Sixteen
Part of my concern is the Pac will have to backfill and will likely go looking to draw from the MWC and pull up Boise and some others to P5. Nothing we can do about it but that is a logical direction.

I have always hoped the ACC would add West Virginia - always been doubtful

I think the P5 monikor for the PAC 10 is probably gone. Whoever they call to join isn’t going to raise the sinking ship.

Although I would like to see West Virginia in ACC for games with tech and Pitt, however adds nothing to ACC for revenue, TV markets , etc...same for ECU...they would give their left arm to be in ACC, however same reasons as above.
Since Big 10 has this going on. ACC should try to poach some legacy Big 12 and the leftovers from PAC 12 for the super conference idea. Probably not going to happen...but they need to think outside the box.

Re: Big Ten...Uhhh Sixteen
Do the G5 go to 16 schools and become G4? We can take some of CUSA I am sure and have 16 schools and all have football. MAC could do the same from a few in CUSA and the AAC as well. MWC might have a hard time unless there are some schools that want to go FBS that I am not aware of. The MWC has a larger geographic footprint but not sure if there are enough schools west of the Mississippi that both desire and can afford the travel.
Maybe have 4 Prig conferences and 4 G(reat) Conferences and give those Prig4 cry-babies a bye into a playoff for their conference champs and let in the 4 Great 4 conference champs and then 4 more al-large (likely 4 more Prig Conference teams) for a 12 team playoff but all 8 conferences get a team and the Prig4 get an easier route to shut them pansy-asses up. We need 128 teams to have 4 Prig conferences and 4 G(reat) conferences with 16 teams in each conference. And we can have a few independents if we go over 128 teams.

Rek, major college sports may not die but I agree that College , as we know it, may already be dead! One thing , I think, is for sure: we can’t keep up.

This will never work. It’s logical, well thought out and makes senseMcLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 3:42 pmDo the G5 go to 16 schools and become G4? And the Prig4 would only get 95% of the revenue and cry it was not enough and unfair.appbanker wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 4:16 pmThis will never work. Re: Big Ten...Uhhh Sixteen
Just read an article on 247. Basically it said there's only going to be 2 power conferences. B1G and SEC. Gonna effect the little schools.
Hope APP lands somewhere
You may not agree but I think this year is now real critical for APPs future regarding big time football.

It is time for the Sunbelt East to pick up ECU and UNCC to form its own new conference. "Powerbelt Nine"Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 4:58 pmJust read an article on 247. Basically it said there's only going to be 2 power conferences. B1G and SEC. Gonna effect the little schools.

After hearing more about this from some of the people on TV, no chance we get in. Its ok - play who we can play and win.AppWyo wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 5:17 pmIt is time for the Sunbelt East to pick up ECU and UNCC to form its own new conference. Re: Big Ten...Uhhh Sixteen
We aren't going anywhere and likely no other Sun Belt teams are either. Only school that fits the AAC dynamic is GaSt.
I doubt that this affects the ACC. Obviously, when FSU and Clemson join the SEC then the ACC will be affected.
Will Notre Dame join the B1G as they are likely loosing more potential scheduling opponents?

Re: Big Ten...Uhhh Sixteen
Looking at the positive. If the SEC goes to 20 and Big go to 20 and the rest are left behind with us. That second group of 60 or 80 teams are going to be an awesome league that we can compete against. Wake, BC, WVU, Pitt, UCF, USF, ECU, Charlotte, Syracuse, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Sunbelt teams, Mac Teams, MWC..most (Left behind) of the big 12,pac 9, ACC. If we get left behind we still made a huge leap up compared to today's fcs. I do think we have made a good enough name/brand to be included in the second group. I hope we can stay with ESPN with the second group. My biggest hope is that the second group stays "college" football and doesn't allow big money to take over.
