At one point, maybe 10 years ago, HP was pretty badly in debt after multiple things done on the campus including new athletic facilities. I wonder if they have made up all that money or if they are still eyeball in debt, as I had heard it described. I can't imagine how much it cost to put that iron and brick fence around the campus.

I know some of the faculty and they are good people. The spring North Carolina Physics Teachers meeting is on their campus in a few weeks and I am looking forward to the meeting.
With that said I would have some serious concerns about my own children attending there. The campus is VERY white, and I swear I read it was 97% white now. And no diversity is economic class. From what I can tell and have been told by some of those that are faculty there is that they are looking for students that can pay full price. App State is not the most diverse but they are working to move in the right direction, which is to have a campus that reflects North Carolina and our country.
The campus is very nice and getting nicer. If you want to go to a school that is basically a country club then it could be an ideal school. Whether they can sustain this for the next couple of decades could be a crap shoot.
I do know High Point can use the economic benefit from HPU growing and hopefully it is done in a way that the city of High Point benefits.
